Rehearsal Dinner

Since we touched on this already...
I have 4 BM's and a jr. (my daughter).  He has 4 groomsmen and a jr. (a bm's son).  So I'm looking at 4 bms, husbands/bf's, 4 groomsmen, wives/gf's, the two JR's, FI's parents, the Pastor, Reverend, whatever she is, and the coordinator.  OK, so that's 24. That's alot isn't it? All I can think is CHA-CHING! lol.  We thought we'd have it at Angelo's (here in Washington). Am I on the right track guys?

Hate to post and run but I have to be at another site and I'll check back when I get home from work.

We ended up having about the same amount of people, and we purposely tried to keep it small. We opted for a low-key, casual dinner so that the price wouldn't be too high but people were still able to order whatever food and drinks they wanted. If you're worried about cost, you could always do something at home, like a backyard BBQ.

Also, your pastor may not come (we invited our priest, but he declined) or your coordinator (I didn't have one so I don't know).

Our RD is large (50ish), but our wedding party is large.  Plan a dinner that is most comfortable for you!

Initially, I wanted to have an out door BBQ, but we weren't sure of the weather etc.  IMO, the RD is just a chance to relax before the "big day".  Make the night what you want it to be!

That's about the same number as us... 25.  We wanted it to be smaller but thought it would be rude tell bridal party they couldn't bring significant others.  Oh well, what's another $1000?  (Kidding).  His dad is going to help with the cost of that.

We had invited 31 people (we included spouses and significant others of our wedding party since most of them were from OOT) but I think only 25 showed up which made my MIL happy!!  Ours was very casual and low-key - only one meal choice and our alcohol choice was very limited! I think you are on target!

jez, since you are in the south hill - have you looked into Al's Cafe?  They have a private room and the food is so good!!  Just another idea!

We are having between 25-30 depending on who shows up.  We just wanted a low key event as well.  I think you have the right number of people coming.

We had just under 50 people. Make sure to include any readers, parents of the children, immediate family, etc.

With it being at the Spaghetti Warehouse, we spent under $1,000 including wine, food, cake, tip and taxes.

I think 25 is a good number. We had about 50 people, though that included 9 BMs + dates, 9 GMs + dates, parents, step parents, grandparents, and flower girls + parents and ring bearer + parents.

We did our wedding party, their spouses and kids, our parents, DHs family that was from OOT, and our readers.  I think it worked out to about 40 people.  Since my ILs were paying for it, they had control over who was invited from OOT.  I think we ended up with maybe 5 or 6 people from OOT that weren't immediately involved with the wedding itself.

We will probably end up with about 40 people: that's wedding party plus dates, immediate family, grandparents from both sides, readers plus dates/families, and officiants plus families.  From 9-11, we'll have the dessert/wine reception for probably 75 other OOT guests.   Ours will be a little more formal, but that's what works for us.

It sounds like you've got a good handle on it.  Just make sure you do what you really want to do!

We are going to have near 40, though we aren't certain where we are going to have our RD yet. We do live in the suburbs, so we have cheaper options. I have been to a RD that was an outdoor BBQ, but it fit the couple's personality. It was fun, they had corn hole and horse shoes, but it was also in August. I guess it just depends on how formal you want it to be!

We had about 20 if I remember correctly, we just rented a local hall (the Ginger Hill Grange on Rt 136 in between monongahela and eighty four) and we had hogfathers BBQ cater. i think it was about $250 total for the food. It was excellent and everyone loved it. We went that route, though, because it was the day after thanksgiving.

Thanks for replies.  A BBQ is out because the weather is so unpredictable already, I wouldn't trust it in late September.  We actually had dinner with FIL's tonite and I brought this up.  FMIL upped the amount to 29 people (organist and grandparents) and then said, but don't worry about it, the grooms parents take care of the bill.  I told her that since you're already contributing I didn't expect you to pay for that, too.  She said, That's what we do.  She was happy that we talked wedding stuff tonight.
