Re: DH'S family get together -- UPDATE

  • Ugh. @NavyBlue143 , I'm sorry that you had to go through that! BSC family and friends are the worst. FI has chosen not to invite one of his close friends to our wedding because his long-term gf is a pill addict and a drunk who regularly passes out in public places before 10pm, or has to be put in the car for the rest of the night. I've never seen her sober, and she's so loud and obnoxious that we didn't want to seat anyone with her, or risk her making a scene (like always).

As for FI's bro, he's obviously still invited, but we'll be having a little chat in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Funny sidenote: My florist worked a wedding where a female guest got hammered and kept picking apart the centerpieces, leaving a trail of flowers wherever she went. She also kept flashing everyone her boobs. The waitstaff starting betting on which one of them would see them the most, and how many times (one guy won, with 5 'viewings').

  • @ HisGirl, I am gathering all the wine to give to you. Along with the turtle cookies FI and I made last night. And making a mental note to send you some homemade gingerbread, the cake kind with the cream cheese icing. And more wine. And a pre-prepped margarita bucket (cause thats how we roll in Florida).

I am so sorry you had to deal with that situation. BSC family is no bueno. All I could think of when reading your post was the time my Austrian friend came to visit me in the States. Apparently they don't have liquor stores where she lives- limited selections of booze are sold in groceries. She was puzzled as to why our grocery stores only had beer and wine, but when I took her to ABC before we went to a party, she stopped dead in the doorway and said "I've died and gone to heaven." I think that might just be you right now if you went to an ABC.

I'm sending you good vibes for a relaxed, quiet Christmas, without BSC family drama, and plenty of wine to make the lights twinkle a little brighter.
