anyone been to the Dominican around Easter??

We're looking into DR and leaving the day after Easter for our HM. I've been told motorized water activities are banned and there are other restrictions due to Holy week and a couple of days following Easter.
Just wondering if it had any effect on your trip, or any more advice about the restrictions.
Thanks!

  • I don't know about Easter restrictions but we chose not to go to DR for our honeymoon bc I thought there may be too much of a college spring break atmosphere. Punts Cana is A HuGE spring break hotspot, although fun just not what I'm looking for for a honeymoon.

  • dancinrmm, I went to DR during Easter a few years ago. Where exactly are you going? I went to Punta Cana, and it is true that motorized water activities are banned. Honestly, I think that is the only thing that was banned, we did not face any other restrictions and it did not have any effect on our trip. In terms of the spring break atmosphere, I think that depends on where you stay. We went for our college spring break back in 2006 [Punta Cana], but compared to other schools ours was really late I believe, so we did not have a crazy party spring break atmosphere. I think you are going to have a blast, there is sooo much to do in DR that you probably will not even notice that there aren't motorized water activities. I have been to DR a few times, to different parts, so if you have any other questions I would be more than happy to answer them :)

  • @pinkcow13 Thanks! We are definitely going to an adults only , thinking maybe Excellence Punta Cana or Iberostar Grand Bavero if we're gonna splurge since its ranked number one..... or if you have any other recommendations. I saw some resorts saying that some resorts were older crowds and some were younger, we're 29 so. I don't know which would be better for us. Hopefully the adults only might weed out some spring breakers, but anywhere we go we might have some.
I was thinking the same about the motorized, we might not even notice not having them.
  • I went the week before Easter in 2002. I stayed at Iberostar. There were no restrictions when I went. I went parasailing which is pulled by a motorboat and we drove small motorboats on a day trip too. I would google it.
