Meteorite wedding band

The way I saw my FI's eyes light up when I showed him a wedding band made of things from space made up my mind. I gotta get him one of those! Anyone know anything about them?

Re: Meteorite wedding band

  • Nothing beyond that they sound awesome.

  • They are awesome and very beautiful. He was dreading having to wear jewelry but now he's super excited
  • They'd be a bad idea if he works near strong magnets, but otherwise pose no more than the normal challenges from what I can see.
  • Haha, I told Fi about this and now he has the "look" in his eyes too!

  • A friend of mine has one. He loves it.

we actually just went and looked at them. they are amazing.

This designer sells mostly online, but has a little storefront by our house, so we stopped by on Thursday. The collection was, like I said, amazing. The only downside is the ring can't be resized.

ETA: we will be ordering a wedding band for my FI, the designers daughter told us to do it about 2 months before the wedding since we wanted a simple design.

  • One thing to keep in mind with "non traditional" materials is resizing can be an issue.  There's also the potential for difficulty if the ring ever needs to be cut off the finger.  These aren't necessarily deal-breakers, but things you should be aware of and consider the implications of before buying.  I've seen a meteorite ring before and they're quite stunning.  Talk to your jeweler and know what you're getting into before you commit.
  • I was completely clueless about the rings. Thanks @debmonn for sharing that link. Those rings are really beautiful. I am thinking to get one for my husband as the anniversary gift.

  • FI wants a metorite ring too we're looking around right now it seems like most places are online.

  • Fi saw something like this online. The designer can also use dinosaur bones. In Fi's words "how awesome to have a dinosaur on one side and the rock that killed him on the other!"
  • My FI is all about the meteorite rings with dinosaur bone. I've looked into them and have considered getting him one for a wedding band. The meteorite is pretty cool.  I wouldn't mind having a meteorite band for my right hand. FI and I are both obsessed with space.
