So I deal with customers over the phone. Most in which are pleasant and some are more rotten than crap. (As with any CS job) So normally it's  NBD. But this week has just taken the cake. One person cussed profusely at me, and the others just don't understand certain customer/company policies and want to get angry and argue about it. Can't this week be done with already?

Anybody else? Or is it just me..?

  • Luckily, not it. But I'm ready for the weekend. Sorry you have to deal with air heads. I don't miss the days of working customer service at Lowe's... used to get sworn at a lot..by old men and women.. really? I'm 18-23 and you're going to swear at someone who could be your daughter/granddaughter?

I do too. When someone cusses at me I'm like, "Okay..have a nice day.."

They're pretty much done after that case anyway.

  • I do NOT miss being in a queue. I did it for about 2 months when I first started at our company, and then was transferred to a higher-level team that isn't in a phone queue. I still hear what some of our TIer 1 and CS people have to go through and it's horrid.

  • I understand completely. I am a customer sevice manager. I deal with it face to face everyday. People curse at me all the time for things I literally have no control over. I just take it.
This week has been particularly harsh because I havent had a day off since 12/30. Thankfully I am off this weekend.

  • I work retail, and I, as well, got a customer YELLING expletives at me this week. So it's not just you.

Why people cannot be civil I have no idea.
  • I work in car rental. Think of everything bad you have ever heard or delt with regarding rental cars. Then multiply it by 10. And then scream at the manager. We never have enough cars. We never have the right kind. Today was terrible and tomorrow will be the same. For ever.

Haha so yeah, I feel you.
  • I am so sorry ladies. :( I dealt with it face to face for years, and it never gets easier. People can be so horrid over small things. I know sometimes they may have a lot going on..but it can be the same on the other side too.

  • A small part of my job is CS, and every day I am hugely thankful that it is online support, and is not live. I can get up, walk around, make coffee, clear my head before I have to respond. It still sucks to be crapped out for stuff that has nothing to do with you, but at least I can think about things and not accidentally make them worse.

I've done in-store CS as well, which sucked balls. But apparently I'm really good at sticking a smile on my face and lying through my teeth (ie covering for shitty co-workers) to keep the customer happy. I haven't ever done phone CS though, and I'll be really happy if I can get through life without it.

I will say, I have cussed at a call-center person, but only once, and only when they called me SIX times while I was in a business meeting. I rejected the first three calls because I was in a meeting. Fourth call I answered, when they started their spiel I said "I'm in a meeting, please call back in an hour." Two minutes later, they called again and I said "I'm in a meeting, please call back in an hour.". When they called back again two minutes after that, I excused myself from the meeting and tore the person a new one... I'm kinda ashamed that I did it, but seriously?!

  • I've worked four jobs all in different areas of customer service.  There were certainly some crazies.

That's understandable, though. I would've gotten very frustrated as well. Phone CS is nicer than live, which I have done ever since I stared working, and I prefer the phone. Although online/chat would be even better!

Oh definitely. I worked at a grocery store once and the way people treated you was just horrifying! I would say that was the worst job I have ever had. I always cried before going into my shift that's how bad it was. I am normally able to keep composed, but when someone pisses me off and I start tearing up-that's my Que to walk away (if possible) and clear my head before I go BSC.
