My friend is officiating our wedding- who chooses her clothing?

She is not a minister or anything, just a friend who got ordained online. I love the girl to death but she's a tomboy with "eclectic" style choices. Would it be out of line if I suggested what she wear? Like a plain black dress or something? She doesn't really own dresses but I have tons and we're the same size...is that rude to offer her one to wear?

Yes.  You presumably knew about her personal style before asking her to be the one who officiates at your wedding.  Trust that she will know what is and is not appropriate to wear to such an event.  If she asks for your input then you would be able to give your opinion.  Additionally, if she asks, you can share information about the formality of the dress you, your FI and your bridal party will wear to help guide her (potentially).  For example, when my grandmother asked if she should wear a dress or a pants suit, I showed her pictures of the bridesmaids dresses and described the cut and style of my dress.  She based her decision on that information and chose an elegant but not overly formal suit that fit our wedding very well.  But I waited for her (and others) to ask.

Yes, it's out of line.  If you had a problem with it, you probably shouldn't have asked or accepted her offer to officiate your wedding.

OK thanks ladies! I love her and at the end of the day I'd rather have her up there in whatever clothes than a stranger.
