Ceremony Handkerchiefs?

Hello ladies! I am having a very small intimate wedding of 30 people. Our colors are platinum silver, white and cream. I had this idea of getting diverse handkerchiefs and tieing a bow around them with a note that says, Dry Your Happy Tears. I am wanting to purchase a lot of hankies off of ebay-it's an assorted collection of women's floral hankies and men's hankies of all different colors. My fiance is worried that it won't match our colors but I heard somewhere that you don't have to be matchy-matchy. What do you ladies think? Our theme is vintage and that's why I thought it would work!

  • How many people do you anticipate crying enough to need a handkerchief?  Save your money and skip it.

Agreed.  Save that money. Anyone prone to be teary-eyed will bring their own tissues.
  • I actually think it is a sweet idea too and if you are in love with the idea go with it!  Are you planning on having this be your momento for your guests?  If so, it beats some of the cheap chocolate covered almonds in paper boxes that I've seen so A+ to you!

If you're colors weren't so neutral then I'd say stick with all one type, but that is definitely not the case for you.  What colors are going to be in your bouquet?  I'd say, try to stick to those same colors and you'll end up with a beautiful harmonius ceremony without being super matchy.

If you're bouquet is all white or only silver/white/cream then stick with soft colors for the chiefs and your vintage theme will take over in a beautiful way!
  • I had the same idea but couldn't find enough vintage hankies.  So, I purchased pillow favor boxes in a pearlized cream color, put some folded Kleenex in the boxes, printed "Tears of joy, tears of laughter, tears of happily ever after" on clear labels and put those on the box and then tied it with a bow in our wedding colors.  I plan to have them in a basket with the programs and people can take them if needed.  It was really cheap and I think a cute addition.

Besides, it is your wedding and you can do and have whatever you want!
