Headband help!

I never thought headbands would be such a hassle! I've gotten and returned 2 of them already (one was a stretchy one, the other a ribbon headband) because my head was too small. There really is no other explanation.

Anyway I just got a gorgeous rhinestone headband from etsy and I think it will work perfectly. It's still a little big, but since it's on a metal band I think I may be able to gently bend it in so it's a little tighter (but not too tight! I'm already going to put something around the raw metal edges to make them softer).

I'm a little worried about it still slipping though and especially falling off entirely if my fiancee winds up sweeping me into a dip or anything unpredictable along those lines. I don't have my hair trial for another month, so in the meantime I was wondering if anyone else had ideas for how to keep it in place. Bobby pins probably won't go through because of the stones along the band. I've been looking at these silicone grips for hair clips on etsy and wonder if those might work if I trim them small enough.

Any other ideas? Thanks!

  • I wouldn't rule out bobby pins just yet. Try them because they may work. You might have to criss cross them but I know bobby pins can do wonders. Otherwise get the little clips that little girls wear that are close to your hair color or head band color (Walmart would probably sell them).
  • I'm one that normally has problems with headbands too, I think I just have an odd shaped head and they always slide back. I had a metal headband for my wedding. With all the product my stylist put in my hair (plus she played around with it to make sure it wouldn't move) it was in the same exact spot at the end of the night. I think once you play with the band some so that it fits your head better, you will probably be just fine. If you still have issues, put velcro (the grabby side) on it, then it will grab onto your hair to help it stay in place. Another option is check out kids selections, my BFF has a small head and when she wants hats (sometimes even glasses) she has to go to the kids section to find something that will fit. Good luck!!!
