i'm getting married in 10 days! what's left to do?

yay! only 10 days left. i can hardly concentrate at work anymore. i keep worrying that i've forgotten something or will forget something.

we are all squared away with the caterer, church, florist, band, photographer, hotel, hair/makeup people, and transportation. things are all set with the rehearsal dinner and the day-after breakfast. we have our final number (very few people didn't respond so it only took a few texts/emails to sort that out).

next week i'll pick up my dress from the tailor (its already done, she was just holding it for me) and we'll go to pick up FI's tux. this weekend i'm putting together all of the bridal party gifts and packing my bag (the wedding is local but we're staying in a hotel for the weekend).

what's left? what have i forgotten?

  • Make sure everyone in your wedding party has a copy of the timeline for the day, and know their duties (ie: if you're having anyone handle final, day-of payments; who is expected to clean up what; etc.)? Other than that, I can't think of anything.

thanks! i emailed everyone with the rehearsal information. i need to let them know about the pictures.
  • I am going to second the day of payments - make sure you have all of your envelopes ready with labels. I was in a wedding once where the bride forgot to get the money for the limo; we had to take a detour to a bank so the MOH could take money out of her bank account.

Also are you doing a 'getting ready' gathering? Make sure you have drinks and snacks to eat for that time. Is the marriage license ready to go?

  • Have you broken in your shoes?  Do you have a "kit" with back up shoes, safety pins, nail polish, lotion, etc?
  • All of the above! I'm sure you are soooooo excited its getting to a closer date.
  • Yay! My biggest advice now is to start relaxing and letting go of your expectations. Be flexible and ready to roll with whatever on your wedding day. Remember: As long as you end up married at the end, you had a perfect wedding!

    Congratulations and good luck!

i haven't broken in my shoes. i think i'll aim to wear them around the house this weekend! a friend got me a "bridal survival kit" for my shower. i'll put that on the list of things not to forget.

thanks, i definitely need to relax. i have a massage and facial booked for tomorrow evening. i can;t wait for that. once i get this list made, i'll be able to rest because i know i have a reference and won;t be scrambling around right before we leave.

yes, very! it's starting to feel very real. we've been engaged for 18 months, so at first it just seemed really far away.
  • Thats how long I was engaged before our wedding 3 weeks ago! I know all too well how you are feeling it's still fresh for me! The night will fly by. I'm sure you have heard that already but I cant express it enough. Embrace this time.

    thank you, i definitely will.
  • Try your dress on in the store before you leave! I know someone who got their dress, left the store, never opened the bag, and then on her wedding day when she was ready to get into her dress they opened the bag and it was the wrong dress. True story. I was standing there. Poor thing. The style of dress was the same but it was the wrong size.
  • Also, I wish we had made arrangements for something to be done with the leftover food at our wedding. I'm fairly certain it just went in the trash. Our florist donated our flowers to a local hospice that gladly takes them. I'm glad she thought of that.

luckily i have already picked up my dress from the store and brought it a local tailor. but i will definitely try it before i take it out of her house next week! i can;t imagine how nuts i would get if it didn't fit on the morning of the wedding.

She wore it. I kept saying "shouldn't we call the salon? Doesn't this mean someone else has the wrong dress, too?" But no one would call! It was weird! And the ceremony was about to start so she wore the dress anyway. Luckily it was a corset back and too big instead of too small. It ended up being too long even with her heels and the corset was tied so the sides were flush up against each other.
  • OP I'm not hijacking your thread, I'm just writing everything down that PPs are saying too since we're in the same boat haha.

    So exciting right?!?!? ^_^

Weird. Did she follow up with the store later?

I'm not sure! I was just working at her venue at that time. I'm assuming she must have but I don't know the result of it.

I wish you all the best at your wedding! Don't forget to enjoy it. It goes fast. :)
