Hey girls, Can you help me out? I was wondering who all gives toasts at the reception. Do the bride and groom have to give one? Thanks for the help!

I gave one because DH is really shy. Basically thanked everyone for coming. MOH and BM gave one. Usually the father of the bride does also, but my father passed away a few years ago.

Pretty typical for the honor attendants to give one and sometimes a parent or two.  Ours was ridiculous - we had my dad, my stepdad, MIL, best man, best woman, my brother (a GM), another GM, and us.  I recommend NOT having seven toasts.We spoke briefly just to thank everybody from coming.  This is becoming more common, so if you want to, go for it.  But if you don't, it's certainly not required.  Heck, you don't have to have any toasts if you don't want to.

I would say maybe 3 toasts MAX!!  I was at a wedding where father of bride, mother of bride, father of groom, mother of groom, groom, best man, and maid of honor ALL gave toasts.  It was lovely of course, but painful for all of the guests.  If I have any say....it will be best man and the groom (speaking for both of us) to thank everyone for sharing our day with us and that will be all.  Good luck!

We probably won't do toasts but instead let our close family and friends record something to go along with our slide show.  We will probably thank everyone for coming at the end of the dinner portion.  I just know that we will have a lot of people who want to say something and I don't want it to get too long winded.

The MOH and BM were the only ones that did toasts.  We just thanked everyone for coming to share our special day.  Something short and to the point.
