I've always loved her movies. My mom introduced me to her movies (and old movies in general) when I was a kid. Been hooked ever since.

The woman was a total BAMF beyond her movies too. She served as an ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia, and garnered public awareness for breast cancer and the struggle of mastectomies by holding news conferences in her hospital room.

She did the "political" thing longer than show biz. She retired from movies at like 21.

I remember one time when I was a little kid, I was so excited because she was the Grand Marshall of the Tournament of Roses parade.

I stood behind her in line one day at Rite Aid (I think it was Thriftys back then) about 10 years ago. She was totally smiling and nice to all the people who spoke to her. She lived in the next town over from where I grew up.

Did you know that she was married at age 16? It didn't last, but she survived and went on to do good things with her life after show business.
