Reception Site in Milwaukee Area?

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced reception site to rent in the Milwaukee area that allows an outside caterer? Also, that would allow the actual wedding ceremony to take place?

Check out the War Memorial.  I think they allow outside caterers, but they prefer you use one of their recommended ones, but the list is long of who they'll let you use.  And you can get married there too - it's BEAUTIFUL!

Ours is at O'Donnell Park, it's part of Coast restaurant/Zilli hospitality/catering, basically right across from the lakefront and art museum. They have 2 large indoor reception areas, each with an outdoor garden for the ceremony. You do have to use Zilli for catering, but doing it all through one place saves a lot of money, and they are pretty reasonable prices. Also the food is excellent. I haven't tried too much yet but I've heard from others that it's awesome.~SJ

Th Milwaukee War Memorial does not allow any outside caterers. There is a list of approximately 10 caterers who you have to use. I inquired if Bucca di beppo could get on the caterering list and I was told that the War Memorial is not accepting new bids for other caterers until 2012.

If a venue is reputable, they will have a list of approved outside caterers. Any bride would want a list of recommended caterers from a venue because you want to hire someone who has worked and knows the in's and out's. I could not imagine letting a caterer learn their way someplace new at my event. Renaissance Place has a list of 12 or 13 caterers and from that list we narrowed down to four caterers and set up tasting appointments. We plan to have made our decision by the end of the month. We are also doing ceremony and reception in one place. -L.J.

Hey, Just to flup on post before mines. The Renaissance Place lets you have an outside caterer to do your food. They must be licensed and insured. The Grace Center is really nice as well. You must use there caterers. If you caterer is licensed and insured they are open to meet with them and make a decision if its acceptable or not.HTH

We just came back from a tasting tonight and checked our list from Renaissance Place. Thanks to the post before me who was correct. They will let you have caterers within those guidelines and the list is "reccommended". We asked when we booked our date who they liked and the site director played it very cool not giving any one vendor a thumbs up or down. In hindsight, the right thing to do, now I understand there is not any "payoloa scam" or kickback for endorsement. All that being said, we have a pretty good idea who we are choosing but want to still attend the last two tastings we have set up. This is too important (and expensive) decision to jump on.
