Good Cake...........but not priced by the slice

Does anyone know where you can order a nice looking, great tasting wedding cake, that is not priced by the slice?  My aunt who works in the bakery world (unfortunately not locally though) has advised me that typically any bakery that is charging by the slice is just riping you off because the cake costs a slight fraction of what they charge to make.  Has anyone had any success with this?  So far I haven't found anyone who is willing to do this and in the end, I really want a great tasting cake.  If I have to pay by the slice I will, but just wanted to check with all of you to see if anyone had used a bakery that does this? Thanks!Tina

I don't know where you're looking to get cake from but I used Craig's Cake Shop out of Verona (Madison). The cake tastes amazing and he does not charge by the slice.

We used National Bakery, and if I remember right they charge by the size of the cake (not slice).  They are pretty inexpensive, but the downfall is that they do not deliver.  We had a very simple 3 tiered cake with butter cream frosting and 2 sheet cakes.  Good Luck!!

It's not for everyone (since you can't get the tiered cake look), but Sam's Club cakes taste great...you can even get ones with a filling (sheet cakes). They do sell 10" round cakes that you can place on a tiered pedestal and then decorate the cake table nicely...This is what we did and it was about $125 to feed 250 people. Again, not for everyone if you want specific looking designs, but it is definitely an affordable, and tasty, option!

We also used Craig's Cakes in Verona. For 250 people, we paid $525.

We chooose Aggies Cakes right near St.Francis. We picked out 3 tiered square cake for about 200guests and it ran under $600 with delivery.

I am most likely using Craigs as well but I have recently heard great things about Costco. Costco.com should have info.

P.S. Costco does wedding flowers too!

Actually, Metro Mart makes beautiful cakes! Prices are really good too and it's not by the slice.
