Having your dress hemmed in your bare feet?

I'm looking at having my dressed hemmed when I'm in my bare feet? As I plan on wearing heels up to maybe 1" and I know once I'm inside my reception site my shoes are coming off( I go barefoot year round). Has anyone else ever done this? I did for my maid of honor dress a couple of years back I loved this option.

I wore flats so yes, I had it hemmed to my bare feet. It was hard to watch her take scissors to my dress though.

 I wore the flats I wore on my wedding day, to my appointment. (Which I ended up being one of the lucky ones that needed *nothing* taken off of the bottom)! I also ended up in bare feet at our reception. If you're going to be wearing heels for a portion of the day, I'd be a little leery of having it altered without them on. I'd just be afraid of that little bit making the bottom of the dress look awkward if it's a bit too short.

How jealous am I of you. My seamstress took close to a foot off my dress. 

As someone who has chronic hemming problems- Always always have the dress hemmed with the shoes you're going to wear, even if you know that they'll eventually come off. That way it doesn't look weirdly short. If your shoes are only an inch, it won't make a huge difference, but if for some reason you end up with higher heels, it really will. I ended up kicking off my shoes at the reception, btw, and didn't have too much drag on my dress (really only where my bustle came undone). My heels were 2 or 2.5 inches.
