Schedules.
FI and I have a number of things we need to take care of in the city. FI needs to see his nephrologist, and we need to meet with his uncle so he can decide whether he's willing to marry us or not (because I'm against having religious vows). I need to see my family, my MOH and her sister, and I need to buy my shapewear, which I can't get here. It costs a crapload to get there and back, so we're trying to schedule a trip that will allow us to do all of that in one go.
FI has month-end procedures in the last week of the month (usually 20-28, depending on how quickly everyone else works). Uncle travels a lot, spends a lot of time in Rome "visiting Head Office", and is generally difficult to get hold of.
We can't go this weekend because uncle is out of town (which we only know because FFIL is going to the same event). We can't go next weekend because of the month-end thing, because it's a long weekend (Human Rights Day) and FI doesn't like travelling on long weekends (I don't argue because I can't drive), and because I have an appointment with a local designer to see if she can make my dress at a reasonable price so I don't have to go back and forth to the city for fittings.
FI's trying to get hold of uncle, to see if he's available to see us on the 31st. If he is, then FI needs to call the nephrologist and hope that she can see him on the 31st. We're hoping that will work out. If it doesn't, the next set of dates that might work is the second weekend of April (because uncle is officiating FI's cousin's wedding the first weekend), and after that we have conflicts again for ages.
Does anyone else feel like schedules were made to torment us?
