Do any of you travel to a city...

where you know a knottie lives and wonder if you would unknowingly see them?

For example, on Monday I have to go to Grand Junction.  I'm sure I would be wondering if our paths would cross.

Random stuff I know.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: Do any of you travel to a city...

  • No but I went to napa the same weekend as someone and everyone with an E ring got a little too much attention from me.

  • Every time I see an entitled brat throw a tantrum at a sales person in NYC I wonder if it's NYUGirl.

  • Haha, yes!

Someone I know from another (non-wedding-related) forum lives in (or around) my city. We're friends on Foursquare, so I see his check ins, and often wonder if we'll just randomly bump into each other.
  • No worries!  PM.

  • I do think about it! I also wonder what it would be like to meet up with people. I met a knottie in person one time and we became great friends. I was even in her wedding. One time, I posted I was going to be in Omaha and ended up going to an Omaha knottie GTG! Do those even exist anymore???

  • ended up going to an Omaha knottie GTG! Do those even exist anymore???
I don't even know what that is. So I'm guessing no?

    STUCK IN BOX

I'm guessing it's a no. Back in the day, groups used to GTG at a local restaurant. I have been to GTGs in Maryland, Omaha, and Phoenix.

  • Aw, that sounds like it'd be fun!

I want to do a Los Angeles GTG!
  • I could totally get on board with a NYC GTG! My sister met some of her best friends on TK a million years ago.

  • Sorry, DH was off work and wanted to hit up a happy hour.

I've met some knotties in St Thomas.   They honeymooned or vacationed there, knew I lived there and we got together.  I even hooked them up on dinners or activities.    It was fun. Still keep in touch with some of them.

It was just funny that I have to go to a relatively small town that another knottie lives and I'm like "umm?"

Oh and I now live in a state that a popular PPD girl lives.  It would be pretty funny if i ran into one of her non-suspecting guests.

That sounds like it would be really fun! I would have totally went to a GTG and I would still totally go to one if any my fellow Knotties in Spain ever organized (are there any of you out there??).

  • Yep! Count me in the group of curious knottie watchers when visiting places where I know other ladies live.

I used to be pretty active on Flickr when I had more time for photography and have met up with a couple of people from there for photo walks and such. I've also met a couple folks from a bulldog Forum I was one back when I first got Gus. I think it'll always be a little trippy to me to meet "virtual" friends IRL.

  • Since joining these boards I have not traveled, but I do wonder sometimes when I see someone if they are a fellow knottie. I am going to 2 events at the Knot offices in NYC, and I wonder if any local knotties will be there as well.

jenna8984, now I'm wondering that myself, haha!

Wow! That just brought me back. I remember Knottie GTGs!
  • I've been to a ton of GTGs with ladies from TB.

I remember my first GTG.  I was so worried about it.  But it was awesome.  Making internet friends who have become IRL friends has been one of the best things to happen to me.

pinkcow13, what NYC events are you going to?

  • sarahufl - one is on April 21st and it is for a feedback session (on the site itself if I remember correctly). I believe I saw a posting on maybe the local board for that one. And on Monday I received an email about being a Bride Ambassador or something, so I figured sure, why not? I think it will be to provide opinions about products. That will be on Monday at 5:30.

  • I've gotten a bit obsessed with "Say Yes to the Dress" and "Something Borrowed, Something New" and keep wondering if anyone from those shows ends up on here.

I keep feeling judged when I'm meeting with wedding vendors. I can't help but wonder if the girl two girls who made snarky comments at FI and I when we were looking at cakes were on here!

  • I think @FiancB might live within a 300 mile radius from me - does that count? Haha she's the only one I think is in my region. I would definitely love a GTG with all of you.

Would we bring our own wine?

Whenever a girl from Chicago says something along the line of "Well, you arent invited to my wedding anyway" while they boast terrible ideas. I cant help but think, what if I am invite?

I have never met anyone from TK although there is one knottie who works on my same block.

  • @KatWAG- another Chicagoan! I've been scared off of the Chicago board though- I think everyone's going much more formal and much higher $$$ than I ever could. Plus, the posts just aren't as much fun as on other boards!
