Frustration:
I'm TAing a lab for undergraduates, where there happens to be a grad student in my lab. I have lab from 3-6pm and 6-9pm where students are required to attend their section. Miss grad student didn't show up at 3-6pm. She showed up at 7:30 and wanted me to stay late so she could finish the lab. First of all fuck-no. I'm exhausted by 9pm. Wednesdays are rough for me. And she lied to me about why she was late. She told me she went to another classes office hours (not an excuse anyways). In fact, she was at a graduate school social event (which I'm bummed I missed) and saw the fucking professor of the class there and then had the nerve to lie to me. I talk to the professor a lot because he is extremely hands on. Now he is pissed at her and I'm pissed at her and this won't bode well for her getting the benefit of the doubt on any curve.
And finally, she didn't know how to use any of the equipment. She is a graduate student. Anyone in electrical engineering knows how to use a voltmeter by the end of freshman year. So while I somewhat assisted the other students, who had a handle on the basics of the equipment, I had to start from scratch on stuff she should have learned 5-6 years ago in undergrad.
I am clearly exhausted and just pissy right now.
But in good news, I get to see one of my close friends from undergraduate tomorrow. I'm visiting my grandparents for the weekend, because they are all pretty much not doing well. I have to fly into a town 2 hours away, where this friend and his wonderful girlfriend live. So I get to take them out to dinner and catch up. It has been a year since I've seen him and I'm super excited!!!!!! Especially since he doesn't have social media, so we text occasionally, but I haven't talked to him much lately.
