Thank you notes for money

I received my first monetary wedding gift yesterday, from a family member who can't make it to our wedding. I'm writing the thank you note and I was wondering: should I mention the amount of money they gave me in the note, or just say thank you for the money in general? Does it matter?

Re: Thank you notes for money

  • you dont need to specify the amonut, just thank them for the gift and make mention of how you may use it. For us, we said "thank you for your generous gift, we plan on using it toward the purchase of our house" or something like that

No, you never mention the amount of money.  You can say thank you for the generous gift sort of thing and mention what you are going to put it towards.

  • Don't mention the amount.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Thanks! That's what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure.
