Prayers for a Baby! Miracle Update!

Fi's cousins just had a beautiful baby girl two nights ago. Less than 12 hours after birth, the baby turned purple while mom was holding her. They had to intubate her on site in the room and transfer the baby to a NICU at another hospital. Her right lung stopped ventilating. Shes also losing blood and needing blood transfusions, no known reason why.

Mom is still in the other hospital recovering and trying to deal with the emotions of her newborn being in critical condition as well as learning to keep up with a pumping schedule so that she will one day be able to feed her baby. She can't even see her newborn during this time. Her husband is going back and forth between the hospitals spending time with baby, but also with his wife.

These people are very close to me because we asked their two other children to be flower girl and ring bearer in our wedding. I will be sad if they cannot make it now, but it is totally understandable. I was looking forward to meeting this sweet baby at our wedding.

We believe in the power of prayer. Any good thoughts and prayers are welcome for this baby girl to heal and be released from the hospital and for mom and family to be given peace.

As a selfish note I'm praying the baby will recover and be in fit shape to attend my wedding.

Thanks ladies :)

  • When I was born I was in the NICU and needed blood transfusions as well. Every day my parents woke up not sure if I'd be there with them. Positive thoughts and faith really does help! Hugs to all!
  • Family gave an update: The doctors are thinking she may have an infection and be septic. She is about the same, has not gotten any worse. So thank goodness for being stable! Appreciate all of your kind thoughts and prayers!

@JennyColada‌ We have high hopes for her to come home! Thanks!

  • Prayers for everyone! She's adorable even with everything.
  • When my son was born he seemed fine for the first 20 minutes.  Then he started screaming in pain.  He had developed a pneumo-thorax condition (a pocket of air, outside of his lungs in his chest cavity) and one fo his lungs collapsed.  The other lung tried to compensate and pushed his heart over to the right side of his body.
The doctor inserted a tube into his chest to release the air pocket, and he was in NICU for the next three days.  I had a caesarian delivery (old fashioned kind) and couldn't see him, either.  All we could do was to trust the doctors and pray that God's will be done.
After we signed the medical release, no one would talk to us about his condition, other than to say he was improving.
About age four we noticed he was twitching and jerking a lot when he walked.  A few years later he was diagnosed with minimal Tourette's syndrome and severe Attention Deficit Disorder.
Today he is a healthy 31 year old computer software engineer.  He will always need medication for his ADD, but he is very successfully employed in a field that suits him well.  His upper lip still twitches on occasion, but it is nothing worse than a facial tick.  I am very proud of his accomplishments.  He is smarter than I am.  He is a caring and loving man.
Parenthood is full of worries and fears.  Nobody can be a perfect parent.  Nobody gets to have a perfect baby, either.  If you think yours is, just wait a few years!
I hope the baby will be ready to come home soon.  May God bless her and your family!

  • They just confirmed that she has a Strep B infection, a common deadly infection in babies! Really strange since mom tested negative at 35 weeks pregnancy. But baby is doing much better and will stay in the hospital for another 2 weeks.
