What if you can't find the dress you like to try!

I am in love with a picture of a dress however I can't find it anywhere near me! It's killing me. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you actually travel out of state to try the dress? I'm getting hives over this LOL

  • Sometimes you just have to let a dream go.

There are thousands of dresses out there.  Don't get worked up over a picture of one.  And honestly, many times, you will try it on and hate it.

Why not take the picture to a local salon and tell them what you like about the dress and see what you can find?

  • You could always go to a local bridal shop and see if they have anything similar to try on. That way you know if the style and fit is right for you before you travel out of state. Then if you like the style you could go find it somewhere or just keep looking for a similar dress.

  • I let my 'dream' dress go.

Do you know if any of the stores around you carry the designer?  Sometimes they can order a sample from the designer, but you normally have to pay a deposit that you can then transfer to either THAT dress or a different one in the store (so unless you're willing to take a loss, you probably will be limiting yourself to that store).

  • some designers have loaner programs where they will loan a gown to the salon for you to try on you could call the salon that has that particular designer and see if you can get it on loner i know bonny has a loner program
  • It is Allure. They have a trunk show coming up so I'm going to cross my fingers. However my best friend went to their trunk show in D.C. the other day adn said they didn't have the dress at hers. Could be different everywhere but she looked for me.

Is the dress you want from their latest line?  Trunk shows usually bring out next season's dresses.
  • I let a few go. I really think that's best for your sanity! I brought in pictures of the Allure and Justin Alexander dresses I wanted to try, knowing the salon carried those lines, but she only had I think 3 of the 6. I just never looked at that printout again and put them out of my mind. The consultant brought me a few styles, we figured out what worked best on my frame, and found an amazing dress that turned out to be nothing like the ones I "wanted."

I had a dress in mind that I couldn't purchase a dress until I tried the dress I thought was "the one" on. Luckily a bridal salon in my area had the dress so I went there to try it on. It ended up being TERRIBLE on me and I just had to laugh because I thought that was going to be it. Some times what you think is "the one" ends up not.

  • I was in love with an Allure Romance dress. Alas, I think the only place that actually carried it was in NYC. On a whim I made an appointment at Alfred Angelo and fell in love with a dress there. That finally put the other dress out of my mind.
