NWR: Baby Gift Timing?

So a friend of mine from HS just let me know she's expecting. YAY! I live out of town, may be moving even further away, so I will not be attending a baby shower, but I would like to send a gift. I was planning on crocheting a small elephant toy, so registry isn't an issue. When should I aim to send this? Baby is due in November, and I just don't know if I should do sooner or later. I like babies, they give me an excuse to make cute things :)

Re: NWR: Baby Gift Timing?

  • I would wait awhile. If she is due in november, she is probably still in first trimeser (or just starting second). I would wait a few months personally
  • I agree, start the project whenever you feel like it, but don't sent till at least the baby shower or if you aren't sure I'd target within +/- 2 months of the due date.
  • I would wait until the third trimester, at least.

I usually send gifts after the kid is born.

    ETA: I can't spell :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • I had several family members send me gifts that arrived around the time of the shower.

  • Thank you so much for the advice, I got so excited about making an elephant, I forgot how early it was.
