Sunday Funday

Today I went to a coworkers kids birthday party, locked my keys in my car, and finished my "normal" thank you's. I still have my longer thank you's to do (BM's, FSIL who helped me a fuckton) but all in all, I'm feeling pretty good.

  • I have been marathoning "Hannibal" all day.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Adults invite other adults to kids birthday parties? Interesting. Good job on the thank yous! And you deserve plenty of wine

  • We finished up our in pool training for our scuba diving today.  We're doing our dry suit training too.  We're off to the mountains in a few weeks for our open water to finish our certification.  I am so tired though, and I have practice tonight

Yep. It's kinda just an excuse for friends to come over and hang, but H and I have discussed that we'll probably keep any birthday parties for our future spawn as either family only or just other kids.

Though, I think we're going to try and keep everything low key. Another coworker has been trying to decide if she should rent a bounce house for her granddaughters first birthday. I keep telling her thats a terrible fucking idea.

Oh, I guess my family does that and very close friends and other kids parents, but co-workers seemed odd to me.

I think the bounce house for a one year old and drinking adults is so much a great idea. :)

Bounce house, awesome for drunk me. ( I am not going to this party, though I will probably send some books along as a present) Bounce house, terrible for me as I listen to this coworker bitch about hardly being able to make rent for the rest of the summer. :(

I was totally being sarcastic. :) I can see unattended kids and drunk adults and it seems like a terrible idea. Why would your coworker pay for a bounce house and then bitch about rent? Seems like the priorities are not straight.

I had a feeling it was, and then ignored that feeling. but yeah, priorities not straight is dead on.

I love her, but she's not the brightest crayon in the box.

  • Big expensive parties for one year olds are silly. Especially if you can't afford it! The kid doesn't get what the big deal is about anyway.

Yay for finishing your thank yous!

We used our new slow cooker for the first time and watched Howl's Moving Castle. I'm trying to bake cookies but I think our oven is unusable.

  • Today FI had his bachelor party, so I've been doing laundry some cleaning, ran some errands and did some wedding stuff. Pretty relaxing and now I'm just drinking some wine and watching TV.

I watched a sex and the city marathon earlier and then FI had dinner with my parents. Now I'm just being lazy on the couch.

Just glancing at this, two things stood out to me: "sex" and "with my parents." Tee hee. I am a perpetual 13 year old.

Maybe she can buy the bounce house and live in that.

We went to a birthday party Saturday for a kid we didn't know. The parents use the kid's birthday as an excuse to have a big blow-out summer barbecue. As for one year old's parties, I've generally seen them as more of a celebration that the parents survived the infant stage, rather than being completely about the kid. Especially when you're one of the first in your circle to have a baby so there aren't many other kids to invite.
