Have hard wood floors!

FI said it would only take a few days and I didn't believe him. I thought it would be a month before he finished but he started on Thursday and I came home to a finished floor!!!!!

It's a really dark cherry color. I will take pics later. Yay!!! I'm so excited. That was one of the first things we wanted to change when we bought the house. Now all we need to do is finish painting the rooms and do some tiling.
  • That's awesome! I can't wait until we can afford to do our upstairs with hardwood. It's all carpet upstairs and no matter what I do, I can't get the dog smell from the previous owners to go away. Our plans to make the change keep getting put on hold, however. We had to fix the roof within weeks of buying the house and now I'm worried that our furnace has crapped out (pilot light won't light). I just want my new floors and no dog smell!
  • @cupcait927 You are me! Literally when I bought my house, the home insurance company came to do their inspection to make sure it was insurable and they told me that I needed a new roof immediately (home inspector didn't say that!). So after I dropped my life savings on the down payment, I had to borrow 4k from my father for a roof. Then 3 months later came winter and the furnace died! Luckily I was able to get an interest free loan through a state program because the furnace was $4500. Still paying those off 3 years later. Uuuugh it was the most stressful 3 months of my life that I actually broke out into shingles due to stress! Good luck with yours!

  • @jenna8984 thank you! The furnace guy came at 6:50 this morning and found out it was just a broken dimmer switch. I just about broke out dancing and singing with joy when he left. I'm sure we'll need a new furnace by next year, I'm just crossing my fingers it can get us through the winter and we won't have a wedding to pay for any longer!
  • @cupcait927 Heck yea!!! That's a great outcome for now!! Check if your state does the interest free loans when the time comes. They are good here for furnaces, insulation, and new windows because it's an initiative to get people more energy efficient.
