I'm ring-less

Yesterday, I took my engagement ring in to get a new rhodium plating before the wedding. I got engaged one year ago tomorrow. Today was the first morning since I got engaged that I didn't put my ring on as I went through my morning routine.

I keep trying to play with it, but it's not there. I hate not having it on my finger!

At least it's almost wedding time!

  • Gah that's the worst feeling! Hope you get it back soon!

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • It takes 2 weeks... Even though I waited so long to take it in, because an employee told me it took one week. They guaranteed it would be ready in 2 weeks, and if it's not, I'll flip out. I would have taken it in last week, but a dumb employee at the store told me to bring it in on the 10th, which I did.

I didn't have my ring for almost 6 months. It sucked.

    Why?
  • I'm dropping my ring off on Saturday for replating. I've worn it every day for over 2 years, so it's practically a part of my finger. Luckily, I have a few family rings that I can wear in its place for the week or so it will take to get it back.

Why does it take two weeks??? I can drop mine off and it is usually dazzling and ready to go in under an hour - with the engraving redone and everything.

That's just what the store told me. I don't know what they do with it or how backed up the jeweler is.
  • No. ):
I know I should keep mine off during work (resturant), but I can't stand it!

It feels so strange to me after a year. I keep trying to twirl it around my finger.

I've only had mine for two weeks and I dropped it off on Tuesday because it was a smidge too big.  I'll get it back on Friday but I got so use to sliding the ring back up so the diamond wasn't on the side of my finger that I noticed I was doing that for awhile.

    I miss it :(

But when you do get it back, it will be so shiny and perfect again!

I know the feeling, but I'm actually getting used to not wearing mine (I don't wear it on days I go to the gym straight from work because I don't feel like it's safe inside a locker, even if it has a lock on it). I still occasional notice its absence, but I've finally stopped twirling the ring that's not there!

  • I completely understand. Mine was custom-made by a company in another state so I had to send it back to them to mold the matching wedding band. It was REALLY hard to send that thing through the mail but the jeweler confirmed they received it. Now I just have to wait 2-3 weeks to get it back :(

Oh that would make me nervous too!
  • My jewelry store says it takes about a week as well - I'm guessing because they have to send it somewhere off-site to get it done.

  • I had to get my ring fixed from a store far away. It took about a month with shipping. It sucked! My tanline even went away. It's back now though

  • I used to work in a jewelry store. In the store I worked in it took a week for rhodium plating. The reason for it the wait was the jeweler had to pick it up and drop it off. He only came twice a week. So it would take 4 to 7 days depending on when you drop it off.
