I had my tasting with venue/caterer yesterday and everything was really good! That made it quite hard to narrow down our options.
We are having passed appetizers during cocktail hour and decided on: 1) Miniature Chinese Egg Rolls (FI's choice), 2) Fruit and Cheese Skewers, 3) Checkerboard Crostini, and 4) Bouron BBQ Chicken Bruschetta.
For the three entrees on the buffet we chose Prime Rib with Au Jus, Southern Fried Chicken and Bourbon & Brown Sugar Glazed Ham. We get 3 hot so we are doing garlic mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes and slow simmered haricots verts with bacon and onion. For the cold sides we decided on tossed salad with assorted dressings, fresh fruit salad with berries and pineapple, and vegetable crudites.
We did our cake tasting a couple weeks ago and have decided to have: 1) white cake with buttercream icing, 2) lemon cake with lemon filling and cream cheese icing, and 3) devils food cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream icing (my favorite!).
Out of our 125 guests, about 30 are kids under 18 with half being under 10. FI's family are pretty picky eaters as well, so we thought this was a good assortment of items that most people would enjoy. Someone is going to have to roll me to bridal suite after the reception!
