Google Images ROCKS for finding mystery items

Can I just say how AWESOME Google Images' Reverse Image Search (where you upload a picture of the thing you want to find) is for finding a place to buy cool stuff I find on Pinterest, etc. if the shop isn't listed.  Of course, you can also find out the name of things, learn if it was a one-of-a-kind item that you can't buy, and so on.  I've used it mainly to find out the designers of unidentified dresses (as long as it was a model photo).

I think their image recognition must be better than it was a couple of years ago.  I just uploaded a picture of a white wedding cake on a black table surrounded by glass stones to help someone find out if they could buy the decor...and I thought for sure it would give me a million off-the-mark results.  But nope...three results...all the exact right picture.  It took me right to the Weebly page of the cake's owner.

W00T!!!  I needed a win today...even a small one!!

Here's a link in case you want to try it:

  • You've been having better luck with it than I have.  I found out about it on this forum, but it keeps showing me a whole bunch of unrelated stuff.

  • @missdelilah That's a bummer!  It is getting better and better.  A couple of years ago, it would have shown me every white wedding cake there is.  Maybe it'll help you find at least one great item before your big day.  Six months!  You're in the home stretch!!

  • I haven't actually used it for much that was wedding related yet, although I've given it a go when trying to find dresses for people.  Particularly when I saw BM dresses I loved on knockoff websites, and wanted to track down the originals.  Those ones were easy, because the photos were the same on both sites.

    AGH THE BOX

Have you tried asking here or A+A? I'm not one of those people but I am truly amazed at what some of the women can find fashion wise for other people.
  • I put them up in A+A before. The picture has to be from somebody's wedding photos, and I can't figure out brand at all. Siiiiiiigh forever.

Where did you find the photo from? Did you try emailing the blogger?
  • It was on pinterest and everything just shows up as 'pinned by pinner'

it is an endless depressing cycle of non-results.

  • @beethery I can see that they've been posted a couple of times on pinterest.  You might be able to get in touch with those people as to where they found them.  But you're right.  Related images are in now way related.

There's a very similar pair on etsy (admittedly, the lace isn't as nice and there's no beading).

ETF: That was not the most user-friendly URL...

  • I saw those too! The toe strap is what clued me in.

If they were less expensive I'd buy them and find some kind of appliqué to bead and then stick on there.

But if I'm going to put time and money into shoes I might as well just buy ones that are fabulous straight from the store.

It says you can request a custom order, but that would almost certainly be even more expensive.

  • I've been looking for an excuse to buy some Louboutins so it looks like the wedding is going to be it lol

  • Otherwise I've just started looking in to Shoes of Prey.  The customization options are a little limited, but they're much less expensive than Laboutins.  The reviews I've read are good.

  • I FINALLY found the source site with those shoes

They are custom for the bride by the designers at ShoeDazzle, where she had worked.
