On Saturday I had my first dress fitting! I hadn't seen my dress since June of last year and I was freaking excited!! I put the dress on and immediately fell in love with it all over again. The fitting was wonderful and as she slowly pinned everything I was able to imagine how well it will fit the day of. I was honestly on cloud nine! Once the pinning was finished and the bustle was made we decided to look at jewelry so we could see how it would look with the dress. My FMIL had graciously decided that she would purchase it for me since she had done so for all of her goddaughters weddings, it was the sweetest thing! So, as we are looking she grabs this gorgeous gold and white statement necklace that was absolutely stunning. The owner of the store sees us checking out jewelry and comes out to help us pick out earrings. He is standing there talking us up (seriously, this man is good at his job. I know it is his job to make the bride feel like one in a million and it's all for his sales but he truly has a gift of making brides feel awesome) and he looks at the price of the necklace and the earrings and goes "oh, $250, that' isn't bad at all!", as my jaw dropped to the floor because I have never purchased a necklace for that much before. But, my FMIL, myself, and my sister all loved it so she insisted that we purchase it...
as we go up to the counter, after I had taken off my dress and gotten back into my clothes the owner of the store goes "how much did I say that necklace was again?" and I said..."Oh, $250-something, I dont quite remember" and he goes "Ok....for you today it will be....I made a mistake when I looked at the tag. This necklace is actually $660, but that was completely my mistake". Enter I have NO clue what to say or do with my face moment!! We couldn't believe it! And he insisted that we purchase it at the price he quoted. Like, HOLY COW!! I guess it was deisgned by a man named Kenneth Jay Lane who makes high end, knock-off designer costume jewelry (he'd done Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, a Kennedy)
Anyways, the fitting was a blast. I was so happy we were able to fly out my FMIL and now we have a story we will always remember!
