Just call me noodle arms ETA: now with photo!

I have been going to Aerial yoga the past two weeks, and enjoying it, so I decided to give Aerial Tricks and Conditioning a try.....OMG!!  By the time I walked out of the hour class my arms were basically numb.  Today they feel like cooked noodles.  You know that feeling when your arm falls asleep and you have to try to throw it to get it to move.  That's what I feel today.  Quite the absurd arm workout.  Apparently photos were taken, when I see them, if they aren't too horrifying, I will post one.

  • I did p90x yoga last night, and spent the majority of the down-dogs yelling, "MY CHICKEN WINGS ARE BURNIN'"

    I feel your pain!

  • This is lame, but I cleaned the house for two days and my arms are killing me. It feels like I did 80 bicep curls with a thirty pound weight.

  • I think aerial is the coolest thing ever. I could never do it because I am just a weakling but my friend does it and she is amazing!

  • I know the feeling! During my bachelorette we spent two hours at a trapeze school. Swinging around like that was wicked fun but my arms and abs were killing me for the next three days!
  • HOLY COW. That is a serious workout. Go you!!!

  • WOW. It looks so cool but I have zero upper arm strength! You're awesome for trying that!

  • That looks so fun! (Maybe it's just because you look elegant. I have a feeling I would look like I was hanging on for dear life!). I believe that could have an effect on the arms, yes. Good for you!

I am so far from elegant it isn't even funny. . . . DH and I always make fun of me because i'm all limbs and angles.

I would also like to say that the regular who showed up late for class immediately jumped on the ropes performing such moves as "The Star" and "Dying Angel" while I was trying desperately to master "The Potato"!!!

Aw, they shouldn't name moves like that. That's just discouraging! ;)

Bahahaha, tell me they don't actually call it "THE POTATO."  FYI, I had no idea what Aerial Yoga was and now I do.  It looks super cool.  Too bad I can never do it. =(  You look great!

  • For everyone discussing their arm strength: it isn't all arms, a lot of it is legs and abs too. I mean, if you're using JUST your arms, you're doing it wrong. So don't be afraid to give it a try just because you have weak arms, it's really not just a bunch of pull ups.

Cool pictures! It's nice to hear that you enjoyed yourself!

Oh, don't worry. I'm sure my arms, abs, and legs would hurt, too. :)

This does make me want to give it a try, though! I do a lot of old-school calesthenics and sports, but I've been away from the yoga world for a while. It may be time to get back into it.

Hey, everyone loves potatoes.  They're so versatile and amazing.

  • I'm so jealous. As soon as I retire from cheer, I'm going to circus school instead to stay in shape. No time this year though, as I'm trying a ballet class instead.

I would love to do ballet. . . . but i think i'd look more baby giraffe on ice than graceful swan.
  • I took it as a class for my PE degree about 12 years ago (and a jazz one too actually), and I loved it.  I was surprised cos I expected to prefer the jazz class.  But I really enjoyed the technical aspect of arm and leg placement, and hitting everyone correctly.  I'm excited to start in a few weeks

Take it from the chubbiest ballerina: it doesn't matter if you look like a baby giraffe or a beautiful jungle cat. Everyone is working on their own stuff and they don't have time to judge you.
