You've got to be kidding me

Just found out the husband of the couple who were to watch one of the dogs while we are gone is in jail.   Not sure the details.   I've heard the words, fight, jumping out of a car when the police pulled them over?

We leave in 2 days.   Mad rush to find someone else to watch him.    Might have to board him.  Not looking forward to that bill if we do.

I knew this trip was too easy to plan.

  • Eeek!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Boooo! That's no good. I hope you can find someone quickly!

  • Gee, I wonder what happened?! Better the dog be safe and sound in a doggy day care than have someone potentially violent watch him?

  • Oh man!

Do you have any neighbors you trust that can watch the dog?

hence the mad rush to find someone else.

neighbors? No.  We only really know the ones next door.   They are cray-cray. Plus their dog tries to attack Chef.  She has broken our fence twice trying to get in to attack him.     They are renting and their landlord is a co-worker.  He only found out yesterday that they even had a dog when we complained out bad the dog is.

It will work out.  We have had a few people offer in the past.  Hopefully DH is working on getting another co-worker to watch him.

the person watching the other dog will only take the rescue dog.

It will work out, just sucks.

  • Another option to try is a local vet. Sometimes they let house sitters advertise in their office. This may be an option of last resort, but maybe one will be willing to take yours in instead of just coming to your home?

  • Crisis averted. One of DH's cooks is going to stay at our house with Chef. Which is good. Our neighbors are known to the police. It's better they do not think we are gone for a few days. I work from home so it's would be obvious if no one was around. The other dog is still going to another co-workers.

  • At least it didn't happen WHILE you were on vacation?

Glad you got it sorted out. Have an awesome time!!
  • The guy who is in jail works at the club.  His wife works for DH.  He hit her, but after she hit him.  Not sure why she was not arrested also. They live in employee housing.   Good news is if it had happened while we were gone there were people who could step in.

Oh then DH has a 16 year old employee who got beat up by his dad last night.  He told the dishwasher, who told DH. DH called the cops.   DH was able to put him up in employee housing (with other adults) until they find a foster home.     I would think finding a home for a 16 year is not going to be easy.

DH had an eventful Labor Day.

  • We used a doggy daycare when we went out of town for 5 nights. It was so affordable and our baby did not have to stay locked up in a cage all day, just overnight. Which he is used to being crated overnight. It ended up being $125 dollars because every night after the first night the rate went down. He loves other dogs so this was awesome. We plan on using them again for our destination wedding in May for 7 nights.

  • It's not the money as much as the last minute expense. I live in a small mountain town. There is one doggie day care around, but I'm not impressed with them for boarding purposes. When we lived in a different city we boarded him at doggie daycare.

Hehe. yeah, DH named our dog Chef.  So yeah, a cook is watching the chef.

Another name he considered was 86.     ::shakes head::

  • I'm sorry to hear about that! Boarding Maury has proven to be harder than we expected. The two best boarding places are booked during our wedding so he'll be staying with the vet. It's not ideal but everyone we would ask to watch him is coming to the wedding as well!

Your DH sounds like a good guy. He did a good thing with his handling of his 16 year old employee. I don't know that everyone would step up and help out like that.
