Ceremony starting at 5:45 on a saturday

Re: Ceremony starting at 5:45 on a saturday

  • This depends on many details:

How long is the ceremony? (It's too late for a Catholic Mass if you are also having a cocktail hour and drive to reception venue.)

Where is the reception? (Same location? Short ceremony? Go for it!)

What time would you serve dinner? (You know your crowd. If they would be okay eating at 8 (I wouldn't) go for it!)
  • Ten minute ceremony, everyone heads over for dinner right after on a shuttle that we will provide, the reception is 3 miles away so like ten minutes and dinner would be served as soon as we get there, which would be quick because we aren't huge picture people.

  • Not too late at all for my crowd! Sounds like cocktail hour would be 6:45ish to 7:45, dinner at 8, and that's normal time for us.
  • I think that's totally fine, especially if you're serving dinner right away.

  • Sounds fine to me, especially with a ceremony that short!

Well thanks YA'LL for the answers. I think we aren't going to do it anyway. FI doesn't like the venue.

  • We're having  6:30 ceremony at our reception site. No more than about 20 minutes long and then everyone will go right into cocktail hour. I think 5:45 would be fine with the plan you have.
  • Well I hope it isn't too late since mine starts at 6!  I wanted an afternoon wedding, but FI insists that we have lights as part of the decor, so I needed to be closer to sunset.

  • Totally fine. And it sounds like the reception would start around 6:15/6:30 - that's not too unusual for most receptions anyway. Actually I like this better because it shortens what can often seem like a day-long committment.

  • That wouldn't be too late at all.
  • I don't think it's too late.

  • I don't think it's too late! Mine starts at 6pm, with cocktail at 7pm and dinner at 8pm!

  • Depends what time of year maybe?

Mine was a 6:30 ceremony time in July.

We're getting married at Lake Oconee May 16, 2015.

No ticker because I looked up instructions, and it seemed difficult, so I just didn't even bother...maybe I'll give it a try again!

edited because I realized you weren't talking to me about the ticker :)

  • Our ceremony is at 6, but our ceremony will be pretty short as well (not doing any extra stuff like unity candle or anything) and pictures should hopefully be short.

  • Starting ours at 6:30pm
    Happiness is an inside job
  • Our ceremony will probably be at 7pm. We are currently fighting with the venue to make it 6:30. Either way, 5:45 would be totally fine in my book. When I saw the title of this thread, I actually thought you were asking if it was too early!

  • See weddings in my circle are always around 4, then cocktail hour and then dinner. I never went to one after 5!!!! I do like the idea of having all day to get things done and sleep in and relax.

  • Ours is at 6:15! Short ceremony right in to dinner, no cocktail hour. So your plan sounds fine to me!
