Help! What kind of veil / head ornamentation for this dress?

Hey everyone! I'm three months from 'I do' and just now found a dress, but am totally at a loss as to what kind of veil or head ornamentation would suit it best. My primary concern is that I don't want to hide the beautiful beading detail on the dress, so the sheerer the better. But do y'all have any advice re: length? Or alternatives? Thanks so much for your help!image

  • You don't have to wear a veil, I didn't. I think some sort of blingy comb would be gorgeous. Etsy is a great place to start.

    What about a fancy-schmancy headband?

  • Even though I am a huge fan of veils, especially cathedral length, I would nix a veil all together with this dress.

How are you planning on wearing your hair?

  • Oh i disagree, i think a sheer cathedral length veil would look really beautiful and romantic!
  • Thank y'all so much for the suggestions! I should have mentioned my hair--haven't settled on a particular style, but it will definitely be down (it's long--a few inches above my waist). :)
  • That's a beautiful dress!

I think you can go either way. If you can't decide, you could wear a veil for the ceremony and take it off for the reception. That way you get both.

  • Gorgeous dress! I also think you could go either way. However, I love ElcaB's suggestion of a blingy headband. I think that would look fabulous!

I wore a smaller headband piece with my veil for the ceremony and then once the reception started I ditched the veil.  I really like veils, so i am partial to them, especially when you have long flowing hair.  Anyway, the best advice is to go to the store and try on the dress again with different assecories (they don't have to be the ones you buy) and see what you like best.
  • I'm not a big fan of headbands.  You might look back in 10 years and decide that Gossip Girl/Blair Waldorf wasn't your thing.  I like the comb idea above.  A small, bird-cage type veil could be pretty for the ceremony, then you could remove it if you feel like you HAVE to have something.  I went without a veil.  I loved the simplicity of my dress and all the buttons down the back.  I didn't want to worry with it and it just wasn't my thing.
  • I love cathedral length veil just attached under a poof of your hair for the ceremony. Take it off for the reception. Look at Whitedovebridal.com for cheap veils.
  • I think either a simple comb with a little sparkle or a sheer veil with a bit of shimmer could work. It really depends on your style. I think a longer veil would look better than a shorter one though.
