What's your good surprise?

I spent yesterday afternoon folding and snipping the ends off more than 100 tissue paper flowers (still have another 15 to 20 to go tonight) to get ready for my decorations/favor get together with friends on Saturday who are graciously helping me knock them out.

So in the spirt of something fun and happy -- I sooo need that right now -- what is the one (or two) things that have surprised you in a good way in the last few weeks?

For me, it has to be my sister-in-law and stepmom. They sat me down Tuesday and started planning my bridal shower and then talking about what they needed to do to make things easier for me in the next month before the wedding, like filling our favor boxes with the chocolate rocks and goldfish crackers and making the chocolate fish molds for the cupcake toppers. Both are taking over the DOC role - and are making lasagnas for our RD. My stepmom told me that she is so glad I'm willing to let her be involved because to her, this is her only daughter's wedding. (She has two boys in addition to my brother and I) Quite the amazing lady. She has walked the fine line between being helpful and understanding and recognizing how hard this is for me to do without my own mother around (passed away in 2000) to celebrate and help me out.

And the other surprising thing .. FI can rock a tissue paper flower! He sat down and started pulling the tissue paper up last night in one of the half done ones just to show me he could do it. It came out as good as mine! Now if I could just get him to do that instead of playing whatever game of the minute he is involved in on his Xbox... LOL  Wink

LOL Snarky....sounds like some awesome surprises you've gotten.  Getting help is great!  I get to go look at bridesmaid dresses this weekend with one possibly two of my BM's, so I"m excited about that, FI has started looking at tuxes which takes a lil more off my plate.   But I hear you about the Xbox game of the moment..sounds like my guy!  Good luck finishing those tissue flowers!

My happy surprise was on Monday Chris called out to take care of me. I wasn't sick, but this last month on my family has been fairly hellish. I think for the last 6 solid weeks I've had about 4 hours of sleep a night. I finally broke on Monday in the middle of the night, just a tired sobbing mess. (I'm like the world's ugliest crier too, snot dripping down my face, huge gulps of air, swollen face - it's attractive let me tell ya.) Chris called out, drugged me to sleep, and pretty much fed me and napped with me all day. We went for frozen yogurt and for a walk. He even babysat my friend's 23 month old daughter for the few hours I said I'd watch her so I could sleep.

    Man, I love that boy.

WOW! You have had a time of it! I'm sorry your family is giving you so much grief. Or just the toll of dealing with them has finally gotten to you. That just sucks. But have you got a KEEPER!! What a guy.

And you're not alone for world's ugliest crier. Everything you said - that's me too. I'm so worried about losing it at the wedding. It's why I'm having all the photos done before hand. That way I can just go fix my makeup afterward. I wish I could be a girl who cries prettily but alas, that is not ever going to be me!

    Wait, there's such a thing as a pretty cry? Did I miss this class? I think that's about as real as a unicorn with a rainbow shooting out it's butt. Just sayin'.<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
