Hope this isn't too personal

Please only respond if you feel
Comfortable! I am at the beginning stages of planning. We are looking at nov 2016 on a Friday to lower costs. We want to have an on site ceremony wherever our reception will be, along with cocktail hour before the reception. dinner and of course open bar. We would love to hear how much you have spent in total on your wonderful amazing wedding ceremony/reception. We have heard horror stories of costs and are terrified. If you do feel
Comfortable please share the details of your day along with the total cost (location, guest size, time of year, etc.). Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Re: Hope this isn't too personal

  • Is this the same wedding you were starting to plan in November 2013?

  • We are from all over the world. On top of that we come from different economical groups. I doubt you will be able to get what you are looking for

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Where are you located? You may want to ask on your local board. Weddings vary so greatly because of all the details and whatnot.

ETA My wedding is January 2016 and on a Saturday.

  • We chose a Friday wedding to lower costs, and also because we wanted a smaller wedding. Our wedding is this December, and were paying $102 pp, including taxes.

THIS. I recommend posting this on your local board. That way, you'll get information on only those weddings in your local area. Figure out your own budget as well and you can ask if others in your area have worked within that budget recently. However you do have to keep in mind that different people put priority on different aspects. Someone may prefer to have a dry wedding while someone else may prefer to have a full open bar. Someone else may prefer to have a custom cake while another may prefer to have a simple sheet cake,

  • City or country?
  • Look at the budgeting board, the DIY board, and your local board.  Lurk.  What is cheap to some is too much for others.

This. You should lurk a bit. Look at the budget board. Think about what your priorities are.

  • You can have a wedding for the cost of the marriage license and officiant/JOP.  My license was $60.  Of course, this will limit your options if you want the other frills that go with it.  The more you spend, the more options you will have, but you can also get married for very little money.  Talk to you FI and set your budget and go from there.

  • Yes I second what other pps said, if you know which state (or country if destination wedding) you should try the local board (i.e if your wedding will be in Florida, try the florida weddings board). And if you have an idea of your budget (first thing to know before planning anything) you can either go to Budget or Luxury Weddings depending on that. Good luck!
