Ceremony Parking Question

Hey everybody, Happy Friday! The church were looking at is beautiful! The only downfall is that it only has an 8 car lot, the rest is street parking. As a guest, how would you feel about this? I was thinking about it and I've been to weddings at this place before and it didn't bother me too much. Thoughts?

Is it pay parking or free? As long as I'm not having to pay a meter, I'm a pretty happy camper. Though I would probably drive by on a Saturday to gauge how full the area gets.
  • Is it in town? Our church has terrible parking but the doctors offices close by are more than happy to lend their parking lots for events.
  • This wouldn't really bother me unless street parking was super limited and I had to walk several blocks in heels.

I would be sure to mention it on your wedding website and/or info insert if you're having one. Otherwise, you might have a lot of guests showing up late to the ceremony because they didn't anticipate parking offsite and walking.

  • Last fall I went to a wedding in a small town and the church had a tiny parking lot. Street parking was our only option, and we had to park a few blocks away with chilly weather and me in heels. I honestly didn't mind, though. I spent most of my life in Chicago so to me, walking a few blocks is nothing. Plus, the bride and groom have no control over the size of the parking lot, so whatever.

  • I'd only mind if it was a neighbourbood where street parking is difficult (like near my downtown apartment, where friends often have to park several long city blocks away.) Most residential neighbourhoods (at least the kind with single-family housing, where most churches are located in my city) aren't too hard to find a spot in, though.

Does the area have transit options if people don't want to park? We have train/subway type service to most of the most congested areas in our city, so even if we feel silly taking it in dressy clothes it's still sometimes less of a hassle than parking and is nice to have.

  • Parking is free, there's a bus stop on the corner and parking on all the blocks around the church. Thank you!
  • Sounds just like my venue! It was no problem at all for us.
