Prayers please!

My parents came by tonight unexpectedly to break some bad news. My father has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. 8 years ago my mother was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She's kicking butt, and I know my father will too. They caught it early, and he will be starting radiation soon. It just hasn't sunk in yet. Please pray for both of them! :-(

    T & Ps, of course.

Prostate cancer is one of the most easily managed. It is so common, it is known as "old man's disease".  My FIL has had it for more than 20 years, and my uncle for 30.  There are many new ways of treating it.  The "C" word is scary to hear, but, really, this kind is manageable.
Your Mom has been in remission for 8 years?  Wow!  Good for her!  There are far too many people in the breast cancer club..
Best wishes for your family's treatment.

Thank you everyone for your supportive words. I really appreciate it. @CMGragain‌, its a different story with my mom. Her type of breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, is considered rare and aggressive. Even if her scans are clear and her blood work is good, she still has to be on chemo as a prevention method. Her cancer could come back as soon as she stops chemo.

  • Yes, I know.  I'm so sorry.  Chemo sucks.  I've been dealing with a new med all this week - xeloda.  I can tolerate it for now, but the compazine they gave me to help with digestion made me horribly sick!  Ironic, no?.  Thoughts and prayers.

Yes, it does! I just keep telling myself that Cancer picked the wrong family to fuck with! I remember my mom taking compazine to help with nausea when she first started chemo. I used to take it too with migraine meds to help with nausea as well. I'm sorry it's not helping. I hope your docs can find an alternative, and that you're feeling better soon!
