Marriage license day!

We're getting our marriage license today! From our home state! It's all very exciting. FI is picking up a money order and I'm getting myself already because I'm not good at mornings and take longer to be a normal human.

Also is it weird to worry about what to wear when going to pick up a marriage license?

I actually texted FI because I couldn't remember what she was wearing and I want us to coordinate. Not match, but ya know...look like we go together. 

It's true love, because she didn't ask why I asked her what she was wearing when I just saw her 10 minutes ago. She just told me.

I totally did the "does this look ok?" with DH, so I get it. The only time I've bothered to look GOOD when going to a government office for paperwork!

Was I a bad FI for sending him to get the license while I was at work? We only needed one of us to apply in person, and I work too far from home to have fit it into my day the way he did.

I double checked just to make sure we both had to go, she's just better in government buildings then I am. But alas, both of us have to show up with our IDs and the money.

You know what's funny? FI and I got ours on Friday, and afterwards, I realized they didn't even ask for any kind of ID, despite the fact they tell you to bring one and a backup if you look like you might be underage.

If I could've only sent H, I would've. He works closer to town and gov't buildings so he usually gets stuck with these tasks because it's just easier and his job is more flexible (well, right now it is). Unfortunately we both had to go BUT, one of the advantages to living in a small town is that they have evening hours on Wednesday AND the woman also offered to drive out to our house to do the paperwork if we really needed her to.

I don't think we took a selfie with our license, but one of our favorite Tex-Mex restaurants is next door, so we went there and celebrated with a margarita!

Yay! Getting our marriage license was my "woah this is happening" moment during our planning. Savor the moment!

Not at all weird. I sent my husband to get it on his own. In Ontario, you can pick one up at any city hall, doesn't matter if you are getting married in that city. Since the fee varies from city to city, he got it in the town where he works instead of the city we live and got married in.

I worried about what to wear when going to sign mortgage papers.  I knew we'd be taking pictures at the house later and I didn't want to look like a slob.  And a marriage license is a MUCH bigger deal than mortgage papers, so yay for looking cute at the courthouse.

That was almost as exciting as actually getting married. We both went, but we didn't really pay attention to what we were wearing since we were running errands all day.

My MOH and her husband came along, and they took a picture of us holding it and dorking around in front of the Vegas sign. :-D

Ok so we got the license!! It didn't take too long actually then we had lunch and FI went to work. I came home and napped and then started my planning of the schedule for Saturday because on Saturday I am going to get married!

The clerk who issued our license was so cute. I was concerned because there has been at least one clerk who got all butt hurt about having to issue license to gay folks cause it goes against their religious beliefs (omg shut the fuck up and do your job). But the girl we got yesterday was fantastic. She was a little younger then us and as we're filling stuff out she goes "Can I ask, how long have you guys been together" and we told 10 years and she goes "OMG (she actually said o m g), that's so awesome! And now you get to get married, I'm so happy for you guys! When is the wedding? Is it soon" so we told how it was Saturday and we'd already planned it and were really surprised and super happy it'd be legal now. She clapped. It was adorable.
