A really good friend of mine, we will call her j, recently had a pretty bad breakup with her boyfriend of 6 years. they lived together, he was not a nice guy and I'm Sooo glad they are not together anymore. well she moved out and back home for the time being. she recently reconnected with a guy she's been friends with for a long time and they have since started dating. he's a really nice guy and he truly treats her like a queen. now... when all of our other friends meet him they turn Around and say to me "she could do so much better!" bc he isn't as good looking as her last boyfriend. WTF!!! she just came out of a borderline verbally abusive relationship and she's with someone Sooo much better.

just a vent but it really pisses me off! why does it matter what someone looks like? and if they're happy be happy for them!

    I agree. I'm glad your friend is starting over with someone who treats her the way she deserves to be treated. Luckily she got out of her previous relationship before marrying the guy. A person could be drop dead gorgeous and be a total asshole!

    I'm not a huge Twilight fan so I don't know the exact quote but in the first book Bella observes how, for Jessica, Edwards looks "excuse" any character flaws he might have. That's what this makes me think of. Sad, sad, sad.

    Wow that is really shitty of them. How a person treats you is so much more important than how they look. But even with that said, maybe your friend is just as sexually attracted to him as she was to her asshole ex. Beauty is in the eye of the holder and just because they don't think he's as attractive doesn't mean she doesn't.

    Physical attraction is what leads us to be initially romantically interested in a person, but everybody is attracted to different things.  Then as you get to know a person, your attraction deepens and it's less about the physical and more about the whole package.

    These friends are being asses.
