Wedding Band Design Opinions

I am terrible at visualizing. I plan to meet with my jeweler next month to start creating my ring, but I'd like more of a concrete idea first.

I can't decide if I'd like to go with the same scalloped pattern for the band like in the jeweler's rendering, or something like the 6th ring down on the second picture.

The dead space in the low points of each scallop on the rendering makes me not so happy, especially if I end up getting them soldered together. However, I can't picture how it would look to have the 2 diamond scallop with 1 diamond to fill in that dead space.

Thoughts on what would look best aesthetically? What do y'all think?

I think it would look really cool. The second one from the bottom would be pretty! My e-ring has some dead space in it already, so I guess I'm biased. They make for a cool tan line!

I know it's wedding bee but in this case there are no etiquette rules, therefore maybe some good advice!

My friend got hers soldered, and hates it because she can never wear just her wedding band.

  • I like stuff that doesn't match, and stuff that's a little unusual, so this may be an unpopular opinion but I love the combo of your Ering with the 6th ring down in the second photo. I think they'd look amazing together without being annoyingly matchy, and without all the dead space you're worried about.

  • @larrygaga I've been on the fence about soldering. I had decided against and that's why in the rendering there are diamonds under the halo setting. Just in case I decide to wear them separate.

@novella1186 Agreed, I'm all about the unexpected and unusual. That's the option I'm leaning toward but I just can't see it in my head.

Yeah I'm the same way. I need to SEE it. We looked at rings once, a while before we were engaged, and it was a really overwhelming and confusing experience for me. The lady kept saying there were all these different options and I could pick any shape (or cut?) of diamond, the band could be any way, they could custom design anything, and I was just like "But I know nothing about rings. I need to SEE it to know if I'll even like it!"

In the end my sneaky FI bought an amazing ring without me knowing, and totally surprised me, and it's by far the most beautiful ring I've ever seen (yeah, I know I'm totally biased)

  • In my personal opinion, having the wedding band be identical to the band of the engagement ring looks best. The picture of the e-ring with the band looks wonderful to me.

I also vote not to solder them together. I have chosen not to and there's definitely times when putting on my e-ring is just pointless (like dashing to the grocery store in cold weather- I don't need that sucker getting caught on my gloves).

As an example of how helpful the shopping is, my band is plain and then I have a sapphire with a diamond halo. Pictures online suggested having a diamond band, but I thought it would be overkill. Sure enough, when the jeweler had me try on diamond bands, it did look odd next to my plain band, and I thought it took away from the beauty of the halo setting. I'm really pleased with my plain wedding band.

This is a very personal decision- have fun shopping!

  • I also like the 6th one, but am also drawn to the 5th and 4th.

There is a band that matches my e-ring exactly, which I always thought I wanted, but I'm no longer loving the milgrain.

  • I like the shape of the 2nd from the bottom one, rather than the jewelers rendering.

I would not recommend soldering them together though.

  • I really like both, but glad to have others pick my front-runner.

I'll have to get a rendering on what it would look like with my e-ring but I think that's the ticket.

  • I love your ring! OMG it's gorgeous! I would also say that my preference would be for the wedding band to not exactly match the E-ring. I think the 2nd from the bottom in the other picture is a lovely option. It clearly matches, but it doesn't over do it. I like the look of something slightly different. Can you go try them on? It seems like it would be best to see it first hand.
  • Thanks! My diamonds are from my grandmother's ring so I wanted to keep a vintage feel.

I wish I could. They didn't have anything similar in the store to what I wanted when I designed my e-ring.
