I have a picture of my cake before it fell!

And, no wonder it fell!

I have a picture of the aftermath too.

Re: I have a picture of my cake before it fell!

  • oooh that looks delicious! And yeah I'm not surprised it fell either. That sucker is tall!

  • yikes! had they done naked cakes before? I think you need to have much smaller frosting layers to make it look right and not topple. It is so tall!

  • That looks seriously tasty.

  • That cake looks simply delicious! I can see why it fell but man - that thing looks amazing.

They had said they did it before, and it wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah.... that's quite the precarious pile of cake. I've never done a naked cake before, but I doubt very seriously that I would have put that much frosting ON the actual cake. I would totally have put some in a vat for scooping onto the plate (with or without the cake), but that's clearly going to topple over and make somebody sad.

I would have just positioned myself constantly by it so when it fell, it fell on me. Nobody else would want to eat it (because who wants to eat cake off a person who is not their naked significant other?) AND, as I have no scruples regarding the eating of cake off of oneself, I would have had all the cake. :D

ETA I should say that it is absolutely gorgeous, and I would be so sad that it fell.... as I ate the salvageable bits.

  • It really did taste good - what they were able to save. And everyone did get cake.

It fell just as people were walking into the room. I think 4 or 5 people saw it happen.
  • Was it just a pile of cake and frosting? Didn't they have dowels and shit running through it??

  • @ClimbingBrideNY it tasted awesome? I seriously want a naked cake but people have been telling me they dry out. Did the bakery need to keep it moist in some way?

I'm sorry it toppled but it looked awesome to begin with, and at least you still got to eat it!

  • I love those cakes so much. I'm not big on sweets, and I love fruit, so they're the perfect compromise. It's cake, plus fruit, plus just a bit of frosting. :) Plus, they're pretty.

I'm so sorry it fell. :(
  • gorgeous and original cake!! sad it fell :(

  • Was it a strawberry shortcake cake? It's so pretty. I love all the strawberries.

This.  I hope they compensated you!  I bet it was tasty though!
