Buy a wedding dress 24 hours before the wedding.

I'm watching say yes to the dress and a lady is buying her dress..... For..... The next day. She is eloping tomorrow, to central parc!! Beautiful. But, come on buying a dress for the next day. Could you do this???? Personally, I joked about this before my wedding. As I went and got it off the shelf and up until right before didn't change body shape so in theory I could have. But I jus couldn't have done it!! Suppose it would save the storage issue!!

I think it might actually be easier to buy a dress the day before. I see so many posts on here and especially on the attire board about dress regret. If you buy the dress the day before, you go, you buy it, you wear it. There's no time for rethinking it.

Sometimes, I think too much pressure it put on the dress. All you need is a dress is that that you feel good in it. And if I had the budget to buy something from Kleinfields, I have no doubt I could do that in a day. I'm not especially picky when it comes to clothes though.

  • Is kleinfields genuinely expensive? I thought it was just the ones on camera that was lol. I'm not in the states so never heard of it before the show. My dress was only £300 I couldn't imagine spending like 5000bucks pounds or any type of currency on a dress lol
  • I mean, as long as you have an open mind. I'm not sure if I could have, but if I had eloped instead? Probably.

  • I could. I don't really have the same expectations about dresses and when I got mine I thought I looked hot in lots of them, and I thought many were beautiful. It would have been easy to have a slightly imperfect dress.

  • I bought the 3rd wedding dress I tried on, at Kleinfelds, and my size is their sample size.  So yeah, I probably could have walked out of there with it and it would have been fine with a super padded bra lol.

And yes, Kleinfelds dresses start at $2,500 because it is a high end boutique @laurakoctober2014 .  If you want more affordable options, there are big chains like David's and lots of smaller bridal shops/department stores you could go to

  • Did you meet randy?? I have a little crush on him lol David's bridal America website is so much better than our uk one, didn't know about David's bridal until well after I had got my dress otherwise it may have been a big option!!
  • Haha I've never watched the show, sorry!

  • There's no way I could do this. I'm so short, the dress would be way too long.
  • While not the same my MIL is a seamstress and for her daughter's wedding she flew down the day before the wedding to do all of the alterations that SIL's dress required.  I love my MIL and know that she is talented but still can't imagine waiting until the day before the wedding to do my alterations.  What if MIL's flight had been delayed/cancelled?

Same with me.  I am super short and have curves.  There is not a wedding-appropriate dress on earth that would fit me off the rack.

Yup, same here. Not a single wedding dress would fit me because it would definitely need to be hemmed. I would have to walk in stilts or something to be able to purchase a wedding dress of the rack to wear right away!

  • I would go to an shop and buy a black evening gown. I'm 5'1" so I would just buy something in a petite length.

My dress actually needed no alterations except for the bustle. I was surprised!

  • I went to a consignment bridal shop and overheard someone there doing the same thing. That makes a bit more sense though, the dresses are more likely to be a reasonable length and they aren't dropping thousands on the dress.

I almost bought a different dress that had a corset and that would've only needed hemming, and that wouldn't have been a big job. My dress needed a ton though.

  • I ordered mine online from the DB clearance - I totally would have been able to buy a dress the day before if I were eloping. It fits fine and I'm not getting it altered, so sure. Especially if I were eloping...I'd probably have just hit the mall and grabbed a white cocktail dress or something if I didn't find anything at a bridal shop.

They only had like four dresses in my size in the clearance even online and I just shrugged and said "sure, one of those is good," so yeah. If you're having a small and low-key wedding or elopement, why not just grab something? Obviously it's not a route for picky/very fashion-conscious/"I have a vision" kind of brides, but for someone that just wants to say her vows in a white dress of some kind, sure.

  • I found my dress the first day I tried dresses on, it was like the 5th one. So yes, I could have gotten married the next day if I wanted to. I'm 5'2 though so it would have needed some hemming. And I would have picked a different dress that wasn't as intricate if that were the case.

  • I bought my dress about three weeks before.  I had to buy an off the rack sample, but that was all I could afford, anyway.  I didn't worry about finding my dream dress.  I just found a pretty dress that fit, was affordable, appropriate for my small church wedding, and looked nice.  I shopped alone.
    Yes, I could do it.

  • I didn't need any alterations for my dress, except for L-seams Made the tope of the dress, meet the contour of your bust.  And a had the crinoline shortened so my H and I could waltz.  I wore high enough heels that I didn't need to have the skirt of the dress hemmed.  It still cost me $200.
