dear god wedding fiasco

My MOH/BFF was telling me oft this wedding she and her H are going to on Dec 26...during the day....in long formal dresses....

Its her H's BFF and they specifically indicated long dresses for the wedding, which is early in the day.

And the bride was bitching because she got a lot of declines...

That's how I view holiday weddings.

  • If it wasn't 20 outside, I'd totally rock a skort to that wedding. And the day after Christmas?  You self important people. I never buy the "All of my family will be together anyways. We might as well get married when everybody is around!" NO. What do you think your friends are doing? Just waiting on your family to get together so you can get married?

    No. They aren't. I promise.

  • Yeah....to be fair this year we are spending Christmas day with my Dad's family and the day after Christmas with my Mom's family.  No way would I be skipping out on seeing my Grandma for some chick that's telling me I have to formally dress to attend her daytime wedding.

  • Nope! Granted, I always work the 26th. But still!

  • I'm totally side-eyeing a Dec 26th day time wedding.  Sorry, I know you can get married anytime you, but WTF?    It's the day after xmas  most people are in food comas from the day before, others use that day to visit family/friends they did not see on xmas day.     Plus it's a weekday.  Shocking, but not everyone has off on Dec 26th.   For a lot of people it's a normal work day (including me).

Don't get me started on the long dress thing.

  • I would show up in this and be like "whut bitch? It's the day after Christmas, I'm on vacation. Psh."

Wait? Does that zipper go both ways? Meow.
I was super confused by that! I'm like well girls can't whip it out to pee sooooo under what circumstance would it need to unzipped upwards? LOL

  • I wonder if she will any other wedding nightmares or ettiquete breachings... I will have to ask my bff for deets later hahaha she was hesistant to go, you know 8 months pregnant with a long dress during the day, etc. but i think her husband is in the wedding and anyways its his bff I was like, "if i could help you stay home i would" and she was like "well i could always have really bad nausea and back pain plus braxton hicks" lol

So the two way zipper is odd, but is it weird that I kind of love the sweatshirt/pant onesie?

I would strongly encourage her to sacrifice her comfort and her bladder to attend so that she can tell you the details, and then you can come back and tell us. ;)

well if you ever get your butt to CO you would understand food coma.  DH makes so much food.   Geez.     Both families do too.  You do not have to eat for days.

I actually kind of like that Christmas sweatsuit combo thingie, but I would never leave the house in it. It does look really comfy, though.

Anyway, fuck a December 26th wedding. I would maybe go to one on the 27th, depending on how close I am to the couple and how long it takes to travel, but not the 26th. No way. That's just stupid.

Plus, I know - to each his/her own - but I'd hate to have my wedding anniversary the day after Christmas. I say this as one of those combo Christmas/birthday gift recipients.

  • Don't you live in PR?

If yes, is that where the wedding is?  Tourist wise isn't this one of the busiest times of the year (I know it is over in the VI)?  If they have OOT guests it's also the most expensive time of year to visit?  Boxing day is a holiday there too right?

Yes I am from PR, I am not entirely sure but I would guess it is the busiest tourist time because christmas time here is awesome hahaha IDK about OOT but usually weddings here people are local since you can get from one side to the other in about 2 hours. But it really is a family time and people usually go to the center of the island or the west/east to visit family, so yeah.

    WHat is boxing day? hahaha
