Re: t25, p90 or insanity...idk which one to get?I

  • I've done p90x and loved it. Tried insanity and stopped after 2 weeks....only bc of timing! They are totally different! P90x is more strength and muscle building. Insanity is more interval training and great for weight loss. I haven't tried t25. You will probably see results faster with insanity!
  • P90X is amazing, and I literally see results in a week.  But it takes more time and definitely focuses on more weight training.  Insanity doesn't require equipment.  Both will do a great job if you're dedicated :)

  • I haven't done any of them, but I know people who have and all of them are great.

  • Do you have the weights, bands and pull up bar needed for P90x? Personally I found Tony so annoying I wanted to tear my ears off. I did the whole P90x for my wedding and it worked great but I wouldnt do it again.

I like insanity so much better. Its faster but a completely different workout from P90x.

    Never tried T25

And P90 and P90x are not the same

  • DH used T25 and liked it. I heard him jumping around a lot, seems like a fair bit of cardio. He's now doing Insanity and said its much harder but he likes it well enough.

Each program seems around 30-40 minutes.
  • I've done all three, and while I liked T-25 the most (I just thought the workouts were the most fun), insanity will get you the best results.  It is really intense!! However, the workouts in the second month are about an hour, so that's a big committment on a daily basis.
  • I'm doing insanity right now. I literally hate Shawn T haha, but so far so good. I'ts been a little over 2 weeks and I can definitely tell that I'm getting stronger/fitter.

I would consider any of these a good 'jump start' to a healthy lifestyle, because they are very demanding, and in 'regular life', working out for 45m - an hour 6 days a week is not sustainable.

I will also let you know that any of these are available on various torrent sites, so you can perhaps dl them all, try out a few workouts from each and see which you prefer.

  • I completed T25 and got great results.  It was such a short workout but I was sweating by the end.  I also like Shaun T a lot.

I was able to get the DVDs from a friend so it didn't cost me anything.  I also made it through a good portion of the gamma set and really liked that workout section.  Beta was probably my favorite, and alpha I just wanted to be done with it.  Very intense cardio but if you stick with it, it's great.  I saw more results from Beta, though.

I'm now doing Jillian Michaels' workouts on youtube and I feel like I'm working myself just as much, to be honest.  I like using weights and that was lacking with Insanity (which I also did) and the Alpha section of T25.

Insanity was insane.  I only made it through month 1 and the workouts were intense! I felt like I had better endurance, but I was looking to tone up more.

  • Oh, and look up Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30 and results.  Both will really help you tone up.  I've been doing 30 Day Shred for the past 8 days and have already noticed a huge difference in my arms.  When I started I couldn't even do a standing push up (only the knee ones) and now I can manage to do 2 which is huge for me.   I've also increase from 3lbs weights to 5lbs.  My plan is to do 30 Day Shred for the full 30 days, followed by Ripped in 30.  After that I might try out another one of her workouts. Lots of them are available for free on youtube.
  • @klk111415 What?! You couldnt do a push up, and now after 8 days you can? I need this! I cannot do pushups for the life of me =\

  • @teddygirl9  It totally works!  You just have to stay consistent! I made it my goal to do 30 Day Shred for the full 30 days.  It does get repetitive but I just keep reminding myself it's only 10 days on each level, and only 25 minutes a day.  I can keep up with the girly pushups for the full 30 seconds (about 22 pushups) and my upper body strength has really changed.  One of my friend's who got married last year was obsessed with Jillian Michaels and only worked out to her DVDs.  You wouldn't believe how beautiful and TONED she was by her wedding day.  Her arms had so much definition (for a girl) So that's why I decided to do the workouts.  My friend also recommended Ripped in 30 and 6 Week 6 Pack- and all are available on youtube for free.  Once I finish 30 Day Shred, I'll move onto Ripped in 30 which has 4 workouts (you do one workout 6 days a week and then move onto the next level)

Definitely try out the workouts! And if they get boring, just remind yourself how amazing you will look for your wedding! :)
  • @klk111415 Thanks for the info! I am doing insanity (cardio) for now, but want to shift into more weight training once that's complete.

  • Just over 90 days out from the wedding so I started P90X a few days ago. I'm so tired...
  • @teddygirl9  I did insanity a few years ago to prep for a friend's wedding that I was in.  I actually finished the first month the day before her wedding and my dress was fitted a week early.  By her wedding day my dress was no longer fitted! Great results just from 1 month of that program.  Weight training is great, though.
  • Did my first day with insanity max 30 and although it was really hard i liked it. And since it's 30 minutes i knew i could fit it in with the chaos that are my children and them knowing a snow day is tomorrow lol

  • I've only done T25 and I really liked it. I'm thin already (I'm 5'6, about 130 pounds) but I still saw big results - lost about 3 inches on my hips, an inch on each arm, and almost two inches on my waist in two months. The benefits are that the workouts short (under 30 minutes each) and there is enough variety that it's hard to get bored. It's also a good mix of cardio and body-weight weight training (like squats and pushups) so you get the best of both worlds.

From what I've heard about P90 and Insanity, the results can be amazing but it can also be really daunting to keep up with. T25 is less of a time commitment and slightly less intense, so it's easier to stick to.
  • I've only done T-25, Alpha and Beta.  I liked it cos it was shorter, but I didn't see any results other than some slightly improved cardio.  But I'm already in pretty good shape, so not sure if I was expecting much.

  • I actually just got T25 as gift, I've been wanting to try it for months. I've never been physically fit but never obese either, just sedentary and a little soft.

I know people who are more fit will probably say that p90x and insanity are better, and they probably get better results because they're more intense, but I personally just finished my first week of t25 and had an incredibly hard time keeping up. It kicked my ass so hard. But I'm going to stick with it because I already feel a little firmer after just one week.

I think it depends on your fitness level, if you're more of a casual exerciser, then get T25. If you're more experienced and need a challenge go for one of the other two.

  • I did p90x a few years ago and was fairly satisfied with it - I wasn't as dedicated to it as I could have been, so therefore didn't see the results I could have.  But I did take the plyometrics workout from it and integrated it into my regular cycle.

I really enjoy Jillian's Extreme Shed & Shred, and I have one of her ab workouts, too (Killer Abs, I think?  I haven't done it yet).  I'm one of those people who will do the video a few times to know what I'm doing, and then just write down the exercises and go on my own so I don't have to listen to them anymore.

I'm started Insanity tomorrow.  I've got a physical test for work in three weeks, and then a bathing suit vacation in two and a half months, so fast results are good.
