Random things showing up in our BBB registry?

So this is weird. I went to the BBB website to add some things to our registry and noticed a few items that weren't there before. At the top of the page was a salad bowl and vinegar bottle, which I figured FI had added. Then I kept scrolling and there's an ugly king sized bedskirt. We don't own a king bed. And FSU mugs, which we most certainly do not want. I asked FI and he didn't add any of it it, hasn't even looked at the registry since we set it up.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Re: Random things showing up in our BBB registry?

  • Not with BBB or with completely random things showing up.

I know with our C&B registry that if someone (or us when we did completion) bought one thing on and one thing off our registry, C&B would add the off-registry item to our registry.

  • I didn't register with BBB, but see if it says "0 requested/1 purchased," then that means it was added after someone bought it. They might have just bought things for themself and inadvertently scanned the registry for the whole thing.

If it says they were requested, someone might have fucked up at the store. Just delete them.

  • We had a BBB registry and the same thing MrsMack said happened.  Someone bought us stuff that wasn't on the registry and it was added.  I guess so someone else doesn't add it by accident.  But if the items have not been purchased for you, I would guess that someone with the same name as either you and FI went into the store to add items to a registry and it accidentally got added to the wrong one, i.e. the store gave them the wrong scanning code.  If that's the case, just take the items off the registry.

  • Agree with PPs. If someone buys you something not on your registry, it still shows up.

  • Same thing happened to us at BBB and Amazon.com.  H and I specifically did not register for wine glasses since we both have plenty, but we still received some.  The fact that it was bought sort of on our registry made it easier for us to return them, though.

Amazon was a bit tougher.  We had only registered for 3 very specific things on Amazon (the Willow Tree Nativity Set).  Someone bought us some kitchen tools off Amazon, and I had to argue quite fiercely to let us return them and not pay for shipping.

That's the weird thing though - it's showing as 1 or 2 requested, 0 purchased.

And now I'm really wondering who bought the FSU mugs...I didn't think we had any FSU fans on the guest list

  • I had random things show up on my BBB, but not as random as that.  We had accessories for our china pattern added that I told them we did not want, but they were on there anyway (he associate had to add those items since they did not have our pattern in the store)... I just deleted them.

Your items seem strange that they would be added-- I feel like a PP had it right when someone else's registry got mixed up with yours.  If someone bought those along with something on your registry, it would show up but would say 0 requested 1 purchased (we had that happen with a picture frame).

I would just remove them all together.  Whoever really did attempt to register them will notice they are not on their registry and add them again (hopefully to the correct registry!).

  • This makes me want to buy something off a registry along with a very obscure item...perhaps something fun from a BB&B that has a toiletry department.

My friend had neon green foam hangers added to her registry because someone bought them.  She registry stalked and told me about them.  We both wondered if they would be gifted to her at her shower.  They were!  We still laugh about those hangers 8 years later!

that sounds like fun...... if my cousin is registered there for her shower i might just do this. doubtful she would notice though.
