Help! Need a vendor for the gift I want to get FI.

So I've tried to look around Google but am not really finding any useful information that will help me find a good company to do this for me, and I'm hopeful that one of you might be able to offer some guidance.

For our first Christmas together, my now-FI typed up all the texts we had sent between the time we started talking in the summer until he picked me up for our first date (we met in college and started texting a LOT over a summer break, and then he asked me on a date our first week back at school). I would like to get these put together in a book for him for a wedding gift. So basically, I need someone to publish one very high quality copy of a book.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to start? Has anyone done anything similar and have a good recommendation? Price is not my primary concern at the moment--definitely prioritizing speed of production and quality. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

  • My husband did that exact thing for me on our first dating anniversary. I will see if he remembers where he got it done. I know it was not a local place because he said he had to send a file with the contents formatted exactly the way they would show up in the book. I will let you know what I find out!
  • Try a Kinkos or UPS store. They mostly do printing and binding.

Do you have all the texts as a text document or as photos?
  • I'd find a print shop. Staples, Office Depot/Max, a FedEx, Kinko's, or UPS store can all do that. They will have to send it off, most likely, so it'll take some time, and if you want it formatted a certain way I'd take the time to do it myself because it will cost out the ass to have them do it, but it's not difficult for them to get it done.

    Good luck!

  • Wow, he actually remembered immediately. He used lulu.com to get the book made. Good luck!
  • I like My Publisher.

I have had a few books printed by them and I really like the quality.

  • You could also do it with Shutterfly.  It would be a more manual process, but you could add photos and backgrounds if you wanted it to be something other than black text on a white background.
