Aisle Marker/Runner Question

Are you planning on having the aisle runner down for your Bridal Party or are you only having it down for when you walk down the aisle?

*In past experience it always seems awkward when the usher's lay the aisle runner down right before the bride enters. Either there's an awkward kink, or its crooked, etc. I'm wondering if its easier to lay it down early?

Re: Aisle Marker/Runner Question

  • I'm asking our ushers to put it down early.  I dont care who walks on it as long as their shoes aren't crazy muddy lol
  • You could have them put the runner down early and block off the aise so people only enter the rows from the outside aisles.

My venue will not allow the runner to be rolled out. They will secure it before the ceremony and everyone will walk on it. I guess they had a lot of problems with people slipping on unsecured runners so they insist on this.

  • Thanks ladies! We'll probably end up putting it down and marking off the main aisle like I want to. The only thing about it is that we were going to dismiss by rows and not do the traditional receiving line but now that might be out the window.

I guess I need to decide which is more important. The aisle decorations or which way we receive our guests. I'm thinking of just doing the receiving line.

  • Another possiblity would be to have the runner put down right before the wp comes up... I think thats the way my sister did her runner. In our church, there is hardly any room on the other sides of the pews so its easier to come in on the main isle.

  • Great idea as well! thank you Jaci!
