Ballgown and pictures

Hi!

Will a ball gown make it difficult for pictures- I'm a little concerned about the "poofiness" of the dress and that it might get in the way of having my groom stand closer to me in pictures, and in general. Anyone wear a ball gown for their wedding and how did this impact your pictures, if at all?

Just a curiosity.

Re: Ballgown and pictures

  • Probably only if you wear a hoopskirt under it (the hoop will shift your whole skirt off to one side at a weird angle if he gets too close). From my renaissance faire experience, your guy can just sidle up and the fabric will squish between you and it'll be fine.

Hoops also make it really hard to sit down and they're generally kind of awkward. On the other hand, they make it a ton easier to walk, they are the absolute best for getting a really full skirt, and they are SO MUCH COOLER on hot days. So, tradeoffs.

  • Like PP said, depends on the type of slip (hoop versus layers of tuelle) will make a difference. Or if it's a tulle bottom, how many layers of tuelle there is. Try dresses you like and see how wide they are. I think with my dress having a drop waist so the ballgown started lower, it wasn't so big, helped.
