Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

Dress Withdrawl

Anyone else feeling a little sad that it's all over? I just wish I could wear my dress again. It was so beautiful!!

Re: Dress Withdrawl

  • My husband joked about putting back on for an anniversary and us dancing in our wedding clothes again (he gets a free tux because of how many groomsmen booked). i thought he was serious but he was just kidding lol. his mother is going to have it put in a box for me. very sweet of her although i considered selling mine for a few hundred. guess il just hang on to it for the memories :)
  • yes I do miss my dress. I want to sell it but I'm having a little separation anxiety! lol
  • Yes! I'm just waiting around for my last single friend to hurry up and meet a man and get engaged so I can be in another wedding, lol.

I keep thinking of what to do with my left-over wedding stuff, like my unity candle and guest book and such. I'm going to preserve my dress and I'm already thinking of ways to do a vow renewal in like 25 years, haha!

I think I should focus my "planning" energy on planning an open house at our new place. Maybe that will help . . .
  • Glad I'm not the only one!
I just had it cleaned and boxed so it's at the top of the closet now. Still have a few wedding items left over that I can't part with.
As soon as I get our pictures from the photographer (who's making me wait 3 months!) I'll start working on turning our guest book into a scap book. That should be fun.
  • You could always do a TTD (trash the dress) session if you wanted one more chance to get some neat pics and wear your dress one more time. I know my photog offered them for a really good price if you shot your wedding with him and some of the pics are just beautiful! One of my favorites he showed me was a girl coming up out of the ocean wearing her dress, flipping her hair back with the water  cascading down. Gorgeous.

This is gonna sound weird; when I first heard of TTD sessions, people told me it's what women who are getting divorced do to give their ex-husbands a good ol' flip of the bird. I know that's not the case, and I laugh every time I hear about these sessions now.
  • I know I do!! I sent my dress off to be heirloomed and I told my H that I hope when we have kids and hopefully we have a little girl. She will want to wear her mom's wedding dress! Oh, the odds of that!! Haha! But I would love nothing but to redo the whole day (not that my day didn't go off perfect) but just to relive how awesome it was and maybe I can remember it better. It seems to be a blur because it just passes by so quickly!

  • this is making me feel slightly less crazy... we got home from Hmoon last night and dress was still on bed where i left it after wedding, so i put it on again for a min! sigh

Here's a great idea IF you have a girl, when you start your family.  Photograph your child each year "wearing" your wedding dress.  First shot obviously is your baby basically laying/wrapped in your dress.  But how cute would it be to document them each year in your dress, as they grow up??

My mom wears her wedding dress for a little while every year on their anniversary. All of us girls have tried it on too! I'd like to wear mine every year--good motivation to keep the weight off!
  • I put my dress back on the day after & took more pictures. Hahaha.
