Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

August 25th 2012 Wedding Recap; pics to come!

Wow, it's almost been a whole week from the day. I'm so glad that it's done, but not in a bad way. Now we can start the rest of our lives! And what a great way to kick it off!

The Good:
1. The weather was nearly perfect. A bit windy, but compared to the torrential downpour the day before, it was awesome!
2. The ceremony was beautiful. We got married at my husband's (I love calling him that!) home church, and it was officiated by his father. It would have been nicer if MIL could have been there (she passed away last month from a battle with cancer), but she was there in spirit.
3. My parents surprised us with a limo to drive us to the ceremony and to our photo locations. It was lovely, and the driver was such a sweetheart.
4. My dress fit perfectly and everyone said it looked like it was designed for me. I was a little worried it would be too big, because I've lost a lot of weight in the last couple months due to the stress of losing MIL, but it was perfect.
5. My mother did all our flowers, and everything was perfect. We got so many compliments on the centerpieces, and my bouquet was beautiiful!
6. Everyone really enjoyed their food. I was glad, since i was a little worried, since food is something everyone complains about if it's no good.
7. Our cake. Oh GOD, I can't wait to show you all pictures. We gave our friend free reign, since it was a gift to us. It was beautiful; exactly what we wanted.
8. Everyone loved our candy bar. I know it's pretty unoriginal, but none of our guests had seen one before, and just went bananas for it!
9. The DJ was pretty awesome; even if he did play some "do not play" songs, :P
10. We got to say hello to everyone, which was important to me, since there were some relatives at our wedding that I know we may not see again.
11. Everyone loved my reception dress. It took me forever to find one; I'm plus sized so sometimes finding good formal dresses on a budget is hard. I certainly was not going to wear my wedding dress all night! That thing was gorgeous, but holy crap, it weighed a ton!
12. We had a hosted mocktail bar in place of alcohol. Another big hit! Those drinks were delicious!

The Bad: (not much to report here!)
1. My photographer was wonderful; we'd had a fantastic experience with her during our engagement photo shoot. However, I found her a little cranky on the wedding day, though. While I'm sure we got some beautiful shots, she was a little snippy with our WP and when I presented her with some of my ideas for locations, she wasn't very, shall we say, enthusiastic. I trust her artistic vision, but she stressed me out a bit.
2. There were quit a few (at least twenty that we could tell) that got lost and missed the ceremony. We had given everyone directions, but this group (who all carpooled and followed each other) a) left late, and b) used their GPS instead of our directions, which didn't work well in our rural area
3. I'm lactose intolerant, so our venue provided me with a lactose-free alternative. It was pretty lame. Dry chicken, a plain baked potato (nothing on it), and undercooked veggies. I told our venue coordinator, and she apologized, but there wasn't really anything they could give me extra. I didn't mind too much; I had gotten a snack before the reception just in case. But the guests with celiac and gluten sensitivities were given the same meal; I felt a little bad,
4. Our MC was very shy at the beginning, and introduced us too early, People were standing in the entryway, and we had to ask them to move so we could make our entrance. Oh well, no biggy.
5. I mentioned our DJ played some "Do not play songs". Considering we only had four and he played three, that irritated me a little. At least our guests liked those songs!

The Ugly:
1. Nothing! This day was perfect, except for a few hiccups that really didn't matter! Seriously, a dream wedding!
