Providing alcohol for wedding (has anyone had this problem?)

My fiance works for Anheuser Busch and gets LOTS of free beer.
The bar package at our dream vineyard wedding is so high, but they offered to provide a discount if we were to provide the beer....
The only problem is due to some laws I don't understand, the beer needs to be dropped off directly from the distrubtor. He picks it up directly from his work.
Does anyone know how I can legally get it there?

Having a buddy in an Anheuser Busch truck drop it off won't work.  The ATF has VERY strict rules about distribution of alcohol (it can't be distributed directly by the brewer and has to go through a third party authorized for the job - i.e., not OP's FI), and the venue is ensuring that they're adhering to those rules.

  • What kind of position does your FI have at AB? Does he deal with the distributors directly? Is there something he can work out with them, to have it dropped off? I would worry about this though - could that get him in hot water with AB?
Do you have any friends that are current distributors with AB?
  • I'm sure AB's policy on free beer for employees is that it is for their personal consumption. Taking enough for a wedding reception just feels like stealing from the company by taking advantage of the generous perk and exploiting it for your personal gain.

You may not be able to get around the distributor rule and that may be AB's insurance against someone taking advantage of the perk.

Yea this was my thought. Maybe see if your FH can get a discount if he buys the beer there for his wedding and then it will all be legal.
