Wedding Woes

Let's start the day on a positive note.

1. Tomorrow is my last day at school. THANK YOU, JESUS!!!!!!

2. I'm on hold with Sun Country Airlines and all of their hold music is Prince songs. They're based in Minneapolis so kudos to them.

3. I'll be on a beach in T-Minus 48 hours.

4. I found a cute bathing suit at Ross for $19.99. Holla

Re: Let's start the day on a positive note.

  • Yay!

    1. The house is starting to come together and it feels like we actually live here.

    2. Found a gym and am finally getting into a work out routine. I feel so much better when I'm working out regularly.

    3. I'm picking up my keys to my new office today! It's got a great view of the old campus and courtyard.

    4. Two weeks until SILs wedding, which is on the top of a mountain (lots of seating and an enclosed ride up the hill) where there is a mountain top bar. And I get to see the neice and nephew, it's been WAY too long!
  • Great idea Nola!

    1. I'm with @sparklepants41. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this community. It is so cool to see a group of strangers bridge the gap and embrace one another regardless of religion, political views, race, socioeconomic status, etc. This is the way the whole world should be :)

    2. My best friend, who is now super pregnant, is coming in town this weekend for her baby shower. The last time I saw her she wasn't showing at all! I'm so excited.

    3. I cleaned my bathroom last night with Method Spearmint Bathroom Cleaner for the first time. I have never enjoyed cleaning bathrooms until now. It made my whole house smell so fresh and minty.

    4. DH will be home in 21 days (or less)! But who's counting? ;)

    5. I found a new face wash that I really REALLY like. This is a rare occurrence for me.

  • I went out with 2 of my sorority sisters last night - I haven't seen either of them in person for ~10 years, and we had a blast.  One of the ladies lives in town (well, on the other side of town, but within and hour or so) and her 2 boys are around Wolveriene's age, so we'll probably gtg for a play date sometime.

The Penguins have a chance to win the Stanley Cup tonight - and it's a home game. This could be the first cup win for the team *in* Pittsburgh. It would also be the first time that a Pittsburgh team won a championship in Pittsburgh since 1960 World Series (Pirates). Considering letting the kid stay up to watch the game if she wants to.

I ordered an electric smoker for DK for Fathers' Day. I might end up using it more than him, but he'll get the enjoyment of smoked meat, so all is well.

  • @sparklepants41 - i was considering getting him a fancy pellet grill, but figured w'd see how much we used this, first. I'd like to do a lot more with our patio (like an outdoor kitchen, or actual patio furniture) - but baby steps. I usually grill while we're in the pool, but i like the "set and forget" aspect of this.

You are going to love it! H even smoked burgers on there a couple of weeks ago and they were amazing!

My goal with the smoker is to make my own mozzarella and then smoke it with either hickory or fruitwood.

  • 1.  DH was in a foul mood last night.  Today is MUCH better.
    2.  We are busy at work - much better than trying to find things to do.
    3.  Our AC is fixed - just in time for hot & humid weather moving in today.

  • I love this idea.  It has really forced me to stop and think about me and find the positivity in a week full of PMS and stress. Perspective.

    1.  Tomorrow is Friday, and I have a half day.

    2.  I have someone who loves me, even when I am not capable of loving myself.

    3.  My uncle is slowly getting better and getting the care he needs.  Today is his 72nd birthday!  Happy Birthday, TRB!  I hope you get to go home soon!

    4.  I found a baby cucumber on our vine last night, and four of our strawberry plants have itty bitty strawberries on them.  I am so excited.

  • I swear I was thinking about starting a thread like this, since I really could use hearing some good news.  Thanks @NOLABridesmaid!

    1.  It's absolutely gorgeous out today, for the first time in a while.  I'm excited to take DD to the pool.

    2.  My new job training is going very well.

    3.  I have crispy M&Ms.  I missed them:)
  • 1. I'm sitting in an uber on the way back to my house. Back on sovereign soil after 9 days of working away. I can't wait to see FI, he is overdue some serious PDA.
    2. All my luggage is with me, and in one piece.
    3. The grass that we recently seeded has grown!!! It represented days of hard labour. I'm feeling proud. I can't wait to get home and spend half an hour just standing outside inspecting it.
    4. Before my flight this morning I got seriously the best bikini wax I've ever had. I've got one good looking cooch today  :D

  • 1.  I felt cute and professional when I left the house this morning.

    2.  I don't know why, but I've been super lovey-dovey to FI lately

    3.  His last day of school is Tuesday!!  3 more wake ups and he's all mine, until he goes to China, but this is a positive post.

    4.  We have our first 2 Hungarian wax peppers and our tomato vines have yellow flowers.  I may be able to use more than our herbs soon!

    5.  Tomorrow is date night with the bestie.  I've been low on funds for the past few weeks so they've been slightly less frequent and I'm super excited.

    1) Yesterday was "Costuming Day" at David's Bridal for something off the rack, and didn't totally strike out (except in the strapless bra department because of my diastasis they didn't have a bra with a small enough cup given the size I had to get because of the stomach so somehow I need to alter down the cup on the one I did find because yea..)...  I had already struck out at Lane Bryant, Catherine's, and Torrid so they were sort of my last resort.  My gosh is it too much to ask that clothing be well constructed and my gosh, I may be plus size, but I'm certainly not ready for a Muumuu!  And on another "plus" so many of the dresses I tried at David's were on clearance and didn't need alterations!!!  I only wish I had another month in the gym because I swear I'd have bought three more dresses just for going to "little black dress" type events.  (this is huge for me - I don't get to dress up as often as I used to, but when I do, I want to look good, especially since the weight hasn't been coming off as I'd hoped, and for once I had dresses on that did make me look good!)

    2) I'm a week out from being back "On Stage" for the first time since 2008 (hence "Costuming day")..

    3) My Doc finally treated the gunk I've been dealing with for FAR too long yesterday.  He's a "If it's not strep, it's just a virus" kind of guy...  But what really gets me my SIL is a NP and she diagnosed it a month ago in the middle of Target without a stethoscope! (three days after I had the first appointment on this stuff with my primary)..  The coughs are already starting to be productive YAY!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: For a good laugh - so the gal that was helping me with the appointment called the alterations person out to see if they could come up with a solution for the cup size issue - she came out with some pads to essentially make it a "push up" bra... I kid you not, I looked at her and went "I've gotta draw the line somewhere - can't do it!" - I'm a 44F normally, the mere thought of adding to these knockers - oh HE** no!
